Been really bad at working on the MG F90 II. First half of the inner-frame parts were painted the weekend of September 11th. Then got busy helping my friend out with his wedding (the same guy who was supposed to group-build with me, and I was his best-man), and then a job change, so there was a lot of "no time for Gunpla". Second half of the inner-frame parts were done today. Frame was done mostly in Tamiya LP-19 (regular) Gunmetal, with some accent parts in Mr.Color #61 Burnt Iron, to which my friend told me that I spent way too much effort coming up with a color scheme that will mostly be covered up. Shield and rifle parts were mostly in Tamiya LP-19 Light Gunmetal, also Mr.Color #61 Burnt Iron for accent parts. Onto final assembly this weekend!
It was a hurry up and wait kind of day, first for a feed supply delivery and finally meet up with a tire company to replace both rear tires on the JD 6300 warhorse in the middle of the hayfield (my dad blew it out after 27 years)... so I did some minor priming just to come home tonight and start painting. Bottling my pan mix saved a lot of time this evening to give everything a second coat. I still ration it in the paint pan, and of course I missed painting two parts that I had primed earlier. Oh well.
Alright, I'm not the only one seeing this, right? https://www.hlj.com/1-12-scale-hand-red-edge-wavkm-081
I just saw this Daban PG Avalanche Exia Repair I and suddenly I want to sell my NG 1/60 Exia and buy an Avalanche for my Powerlinx Exia Prime plans as the Super Mode
oh yeah i completely forgot about this. It's tempting but unsure as to how good a Wave model kit is in terms of building. Also, when did this go up because i dont remember anyone talking about it?
HLJ Just posted about it today on their twitter, so it's brand new. https://twitter.com/hobbylink/status/1449375110301896711 As for the manufacturer, I'm unsure as well, but think I may be willing to take that risk.
I think in this case it's just like that Tekkaman Blade model by Orange Cat Industry. Wave is just the distributor. Kind of like how Eastern Model has kits from Morstorm Iron Man armors and Dimensions Studio Ultraman series. I still need to build those kits but the plastic quality looks good
So, new Gundam Base model - the CLEAR VARGUIL A bit weird on this one since this is effectively the P-Bandai release, just in clear, so if you coated all the clear parts in solid paint, there really wouldn't be any difference.
I mentioned this a month ago when they unveiled the clear RG Zeong. But they know clear kits sell just as much as being exclusive to begin with .
After a day on the hayfield, I finally get back to work on last night's progress. Forearm armor is painted and detailed, and fit into place. I did have to backtrack a few times because I missed a few details in the frame I needed to paint, and there was also gray paint on the back end of the wrist covers that I didn't need for a seam since one doesn't exist. It's just an intentional gap. Painting the three raised trapezoids on the outsides of the arms worked into painting to match the white shapes in the knees, but painting the upper panel was an impulse decision. Slide on the shoulder covers and the arms are done for the most part. I should get to the chest, but I have more work already started on the backpack to finish. In the meanwhile, I cashed out a USA Gundam Store coupon I got for the shipping notice for my nephew's birthday present I preordered months ago; the Imaginary Skeleton Tyrannosaurus Rex and a couple pairs of Entry Nippers for him and my niece (for the Hello Kitty SD Gundam set I bought her from the Expo). I had to laugh because my preorder shipment is on its way and scheduled for delivery by Monday at the earliest, and this came in today after I ordered it Wednesday. I know this technically belongs in the ZOIDS thread, but it came from one of my usual Gunpla sources and I never realized they had the ZA kits. It was actually much cheaper than trying to get an officially licensed Kotobukiya version, which is much smaller (ZA kit is 1:50 scale, Koto is 1:72). Also, there is a much more considerable amount of independently injection molded detail parts than its official counterpart. I'm glad I don't have arachnophobia.
Extreme Supreme Gundam legs are completeish. i haven't panel lined them at all. I like the knee holsters for the sabers. oops I found lineart of Avalanche to upgrade my Powerlinx Exia Prime lineart fill and found that the 1/60 Daban Avalanche Dash Repair I is going to be reprinted in a few months i now have ideas to make not simply Super Mode Armada Exia Prime with the trailer, but now with the Avalanche armor as the Overload parts and the Dash ski armor as the Jetfire parts I already have plans for my Galvatron Strike to be Tidal Waved, so why not do the same with Powerlinx Exia? Might not sell the NG 1/60 Exia, just do a straight build unless I can get him for good money. Plus I already took out a runner when I was looking for parts to use with my 00 7 Sword/g Raiser build since the beam saber runner had a frame part that was the right diameter to work with MG 00's Raiser combiner port, the box is technically incomplete now unless somehow I find the beam saber runner on the aftermarket. if you like the kit then you buy the kit
Progress on the Gm Sniper II. Finished the weapons today I can get to decals and panel lines this week. The weapons are the only con of this kit, they are all from old kits. They all need sanding and masking.
updateI haven't found back shots of Avalanche to use as reference yet, but I pulled my Dash off the shelf to use instead
Yeah, one of obvious reasons I haven't gotten back to my Dingo either. Cementing and sanding work is done, but my commitment to crank up the airbrush to paint them is lacking. Another fun fact, and by that I mean "argh," is because most of these parts came with the MG GM - Ground Type and EZ-8, and not with *all* of their weapon parts, you're missing four chain-loops that fit on the bottom of the E-Cap. ...and a missile launcher without the actual missile pods. - I had an idea I debated with myself today between my five, seven mile, trips between hay fields, to paint that center module of the MkV's front skirt. Yeah, I primed it almost the moment I got back to the shop tonight. This gave me a chance to fix some paint on the hinge parts for it. *I just touched up the white on the vents on the face, that's why it's in this picture. First coat of paint before I quit for the night, it gets another layer next time. The center portion of the backpack is just about finished, and took no time at all to build but keeping up with the detail painting took the most time. I can at least finally put those swing arms for the booster units in place. The problem I have with it is the lower half will fall off if you articulate it too much and it's supposed to bend around the back side and stay mobile. Interesting design choice about it though, with how it connects on the lower back, and not higher between the shoulder blades. So the chest retains some independent movement.
oh right, I have V2 Gundam coming too. set for my 1/60+ scale build plans that is, until I found this back reference of Avalanche Exia Dash I'll get it sorted out later this week. last week of work at my part-time before I start working full-time at Intel, I'm excited. edit: i lied, here's an update
It really sucked out the fun out of the build. 1 or 2 weapons wouldnt be a big deal but ALL of them is a chore. Add to that the gun pod on the side of the head that also has a seam that need to be fixed Also this dryer has been the MVP of the build. 20 minutes in here and parts are ready for masking. Managed to paint all the colors of the weapons in a matter of hours when I would usually have to let the parts dry overnight before masking.
