I don’t have cw devy and was going off of a random Twitter thread where someone said that’s how tall they’d be combined, honestly shorter than devastator is even worse

Yeah, 29 cm is closer to the small main CW combiners' heights. (Defensor, etc.) CW Devy was a Titan class set. A tiny MP combiner at those heights with MP detail and articulation is still really neat, don't get me wrong. I actually would pop for it if I could responsibly afford it but I can't currently lol. But I still understand why people want him to be larger. CW Devy height would be my ideal for Raiden, too.

I was thinking maybe someone got the pic crossed and maybe they saw a pic of moon studio's train instead of takara's. Moon studio's train is pretty short compared to takara's. Edit: they may have thought about moon next to toyworld?

Having a Devastator that stands no taller than MP-Prime would pretty much ruin any chance of me buying it. Especially since it would be another $1200 endeavor. Probably more.

I wonder how big the mini figures that are coming with Skyfire will be. They may be perfect for your needs.

While I don’t care for Raiden, the smaller combined mode scale actually has me excited to see a Devastator or some of the other combiners.

All the 3rd party MP combiners are way too large for me, so I’d already decided to go with Legends class. If TT is gonna continue with official MP combiners of around 30cm tall, I would most likely pick them up.

I could have missed it, but was it mentioned anywhere they'd have lights?

And, since I know Tomy has the technology to fit them into much smaller trains, they should be able to switch to red, too:

(no, not the right scheme, but best pic I could find showing the lights switched to red)

The jet was amongst the first in the entire line but otherwise, true. However these aren’t masterpiece. They’re Chug in anything but name.

Yes, the dioramas are the best part of the latest round of pics...and it would get pricey to get all the parts like that on top of finding backdrops and floors.

Cross compatibility is a concept Hasui brough to the line that increased it's success exponentailly. We are losing that with some of the recent decisions. The decisions are not optimal for sales. A less than impressive combiner mode for an MP leaves the question yet again - why is it even MP?

Because MP collectors spend much more money than Chug collectors for figures, so that’s the TF portion of the market they want to market to.

Considering how the transformation works, I’m assuming the light in that image is photoshopped. I’m fairly certain TT would include the information on the product page if the figure indeed had a light up feature.

I’d love to be wrong though, as working headlights on the train modes would be fucking awesome.

MPG seems more consistent in bot-mode height with mainline (WFC / SS) compared to actual MPs, which is why it's called MPG?
Same reason MPM are not being put under MP directly, different philosophy & creative control most probably.

Personally I'm calling the G as Generations, and Hasui actually heads the WFC / SS now.

Still waiting for full combined mode to decide actually :D

Shouki in robot mode is in scale with the other MPs. That's what all MPs are scaled with, with their individual robot modes.

Display space might have been a real consideration, since I always hear that in Japan eal estate is at a premium. I'd love if people like @Gamerlingual and @lord ginrai could share some thoughts on how Japanese collectors would react to a line of 50cm combiners and if titan class figures are popular there.
For Raiden (and the other combiners) if Takara manages to make it super articulated I'll be definitely much more interested, and I might end up splurging for an hypothetical Defensor or Computron.

Generations would be completely wrong since it specifically states the G is Gattai. So scale would be consistent in this series for combiners only. Master Piece Gattai.

Size and price have nothing to do with this being a MP or not. The whole design, full paint coverage, articulation and being in scale in individual robot mode is what makes this a MP.

You can never have a properly scaled Shouki or Raiden. One or the other will always be too small or too big. But they shouldn't have stuck to HO train scale for the vehicle mode, then they would have had more material to work with and Raiden could have been taller. Still too small, but there isn't any combiner out there that can get everything in scale, because what happened in the cartoon, simply cannot happen in real life. There simply is no way to do this mass shifting in size when they combine. ;)
