I agree to an extent. There's only a finite amount of space on the shelf for the line. And WalMart tends to let things linger to long shelf, warmers included.
This is true, but Walmart is always eager to get exclusives on their shelves. The reissues are just the exclusive of the week. Honestly, they're preferable to some of the other stuff Walmart likes to clog its shelves with.
Yeah I just feel the shelf space it occupies is taking away from more modern and desired lines. Look at the motu classics hemans skeletors and battle cats? Just like the retro g1 or beast wars they usually peg warm and only cater to a small niche crowd. Like I think it's cool but no way am I spending $50 on a reissue primal. I could get the takara legends or an original one for that. It's sad seeing these retro peg warm but then other retro lines like gi joe has empty spaces except for vehicles. They underbuy retro people want because they are still relatively price efficient vs over buying things that sit with high price tags.
To be fair with the Origins figures, the vast majority of Walmarts only have those three characters on the shelves. You can only sell so many Skeletors and He-Men (He-Mans? I dunno). They have far too much confidence in the main characters' sales, and seem to believe they don't need to stock anyone else.
Springhurst Walmart has 1SSJolt I left him as I’m thinking I may scale down my SS non-‘86 collection.. they also had 3 Thrust, 3 grindor, 1 wreckgar(that I grabbed) 2 ‘86 Jazz. Lots of new Heman stuff. Real animated looking.. Target in same area had 2 Kingdom Scorponoks, 1 tracks which I grabbed since I busted my other.. plus the new cyberverse thrust I think it was.. and lots of #25,26,&6 of Classified Joe’s. I think that’s lady Kaye, flint a nod cobra commander..? Meijer had 2 wingfingers and 2 wheel jacks from kingdom. Hopefully they get commander class soon.. oh Target also had the TMNT neca LG chromedome *Edit- springhurst Walmart also had 2Retro bW Megs and 4 Ratrap and 2 retro primals(the primals were on top shelf down the isle more if anyone is looking)
Found only one at the Walmart in Corbin, KY. I got it because my OG Party Wagon from when I was a kid has several pieces broken on it.
Wow, I didn't know Big Lots carried current product! That's awesome! I wasn't going to say it, but yeah.
I had a few people report it in Facebook groups and I wanted proof myself before spreading it. Plus I wanted give myself a chance first before someone swiped up before I could check. Plus signed up for big lots rewards and got $5 off.
Funny you should mention that. Guess what the two of the three things I found today were. RED, BW reissues and movie green jet. Oddly, half the Megatron and Primal reissues has security pucks at one store. I guess losing half the inventory to theft was acceptable. I also saw two party wagons and many of the Stalker, Grunts, Troopers and Officers. Seems restocking is finally getting ahead of scalping.
Yep I saw tons of them. Saw a few retro Leo and donny tmnt solos. Lots of eternals. Saw 1 slag at hamburg Walmart someone stashed in another aisle. I asked my buddies if they needed and kept in cart while I looked at home interior repair stuff. They both confirmed they got so he got put back in the spot he belonged with grindor.
It may be because the molds are paid for, or some competition clause with Neca or whatever but Playmates really dropped the ball not embracing the Mattel Origins formula of updating the articulation on the old toy designs. Release the old vehicles as is, sure. But the Turtles could have benefited from a little updating. Especially if they're all we see from the line. It would essentially be one set of molds for the base turtle and four heads. They could have done that.
I picked up a Shadow Panther on my lunch at Florence Target, another guy was there grabbing Waspy (and I recommended he buy it now and cancel his preorder so good chance its gone)

So here's a totally unhelpful post, but I don't know where else to put it, so why not bore the local crew. I'm at the Indianapolis Comic Con, and today I saw... Car Robots Black Convoy for $89. Box is a bit roughed up on the edges, and I don't know if it's been opened or is complete. But I'm considering it. Wei Jiang OSKO TR Skullcruncher and Brainstorm, $40 each. Probably not, but I was amused to see them. Found a booth with a lot of loose figures right before closing, didn't have time to peruse. Going back tomorrow. Siege Greenlight, sealed, $250. Generations Blurr autographed by John Moschitta, $100. That green Armada Unicron that Takara put out. Don't remember a price on it. Various other stuff. You can tell who shops at Ollie's, though...
I'd be tempted for that Black Convoy. Two of my biggest regrets are not still having my Laser Optimus Prime and never getting Black Convoy / Scourge when it was around. The mold released in 1995 and still holds up today!
I’m heading to Indy today for a Kendama meetup and someone else at work said they were going to that comic convention.. I guess someone fro LOTR will be there…? If I had known sooner I would have scheduled the con in my trip
