I just bought the Studio Series BB Movie Starscream and Thrust last week and then I got the payment request from ShowZ yesterday lol. Had a moment of wondering if I just wasted my money on the SS versions and had a little Starscream crisis

Could you not use the PayPal “Pay in 3” option? I personally use that and it spreads the payment over 3 months. Makes it easier to place an order since you can pay it off way more easily

I just prefer to know I can just pay off the figure instantly and not worry about any interest and all that.

Also anyone else find the lack of coverage for this figure strange? like what’s going on with it?

That’s fair enough though I can happily say the Pay in 3 option from PayPal is interest free which is why I find so useful.

As to your question about what’s going on with it, ShowZ said they were expecting stock in about 2 weeks and that’s when I would expect them to start shipping out. Currently with everything that’s happening in China with a lot of laws and rules being changed I’m not really shocked that news and updates have slowed down as people are still adapting to the new laws.

Received this Starscream few days ago and it's time to unbox it.

    Packaging & Accessories

The color on the box art is striking and quite nice. The figure is packed inside a transparent casing where the upper layer you will find Starscream and the 2 weapons, while the lower layer houses the stand
    IMG_20211010_024950.jpg IMG_20211010_025002.jpg IMG_20211010_025653.jpg

It comes with a blaster, which similar to Blitzwing and a riffle. I'll prefer this blaster over the one on Blitzwing where you don't have to remove the hands. The riffle can be tabbed into the hands like normal MP but it doesn't hold as strong as the OSKO Sentinel Prime but definitely not loose.
    IMG_20211010_025805.jpg IMG_20211010_025838.jpg

The stand is not the best among those that I own. There's a different connector piece for alt mode and Bot mode. You can't adjust the height or angle like what other stand does. It pretty just hold the figure for picture taking purpose. Honestly, I rather they cancel the stand and reduce the price of this figure.
    IMG_20211010_014540.jpg IMG_20211010_014618.jpg IMG_20211010_014647.jpg

    Alt Mode

The transformation is not difficult on this and is 10 times easier and 10 times more the fun when comparing to MA Blitzwing. I can transform it back to robot mode without the needs to refer to video aids. There's no tolerance issue and the build quality is good. Some people might not like the transformation to be such easy at this price point but for me, so long as it achieved screen accuracy, why not. The only thing to take note while transforming this is those spikes on the wings. It's really sharp.

The alt mode is a cybertronian jet mode which resemble a little to the G1 cybertronian triangle-ish jet mode. It looks great from almost all angles except from the back where you can see the feet is hanging out there
    IMG_20211009_132211.jpg IMG_20211009_132302.jpg IMG_20211009_132329.jpg IMG_20211009_132412.jpg IMG_20211009_132508.jpg

    Bot Mode

Once you successfully transform it to the jet mode, the reverse step is very simple to remember. The bot mode looks very similar to Blitzwing from the torso all the way down to the foot.

The tabs on this Starscream is also way better than Blitzwing and the stability on this is very good. You can stand it easily without the fear that Starscream will fall. Many diecast metals are used on the joints, such as elbow joints, knee joints and the joints connecting the wing part to the body. However, this figure is very light and the weigh doesn't give you a sense that this is a premium item. But this figure is robust and not flimsy.

The only ratchet joint used is on the hips while the shoulder, elbow and knee joints are all friction joints. One thing that I really dislike is why are we not getting a fully articulated fingers? WTF. It is using the same approach as UT. I really hope all 3rd party MP / MPM will adopt full articulated fingers especially when this thing is not cheap. In terms of weather paint, many people is critizing it but I find it quite acceptable for my standard

You can position the wings angle according to your preference. You can't remove the null rays like what Studio Series does. Starscream looks good fr all angle, except...
    IMG_20211010_013024.jpg IMG_20211010_013050.jpg IMG_20211010_013132.jpg

From top view, you can see how hollow it is
    IMG_20211010_013203.jpg

As for the head sculpt, it comes with a visor where you can choose to put it on or not. Most the feedbacks receive is they prefer to have the visor as the eye tends to stick too out

It also comes with LED where it takes 2 AG1 / LR621 batteries (another WTF where they don't even mention the battery type in their instruction but they mention this in their small tiny battery compartment. The LED itself is a white LED instead of a red one.
    IMG_20211010_013249.jpg IMG_20211010_013229.jpg IMG_20211010_013303.jpg IMG_20211010_013345.jpg

Articulations are quite good on Starscream. You will only get a little waist rotation once everything is tabbed in but you can disconnect the waist joint and it gives you a good range of movement
    IMG_20211010_013907.jpg IMG_20211010_014400.jpg IMG_20211010_015332.jpg

With the help of the stand, you can get more pose-ability (gotten the idea of such pose from one of the video review and I just follow)
    IMG_20211010_022039.jpg IMG_20211010_022500.jpg IMG_20211010_023007.jpg

    Comparison with MA Blitzwing

It is slightly shorter that Blitzwing but the overall build quality is so much more solid than Blitzwing. However, Blitzwing tends to have more mechanical details in both alt and Bot mode. The details on Starscream is somewhat lacking and lackluster.

Man I’m sooo excited for this. Was worried about the plastic and build quality but as long as that holds up this may be one of my fav figures. Hopefully showZ gets their stock soon.

If the quality holds up, we'll finally have a great BB Movie figure after all the failures.

I'm saddened by how much true this is.
A lot of people post things like "we already got tons of Bumblebee (movie) figures, do something new!", but the truth is that they're mostly incredibly average or just straight up mediocre.
I hope this company produces a new Blitzwing.
