"But think about it Arcana... if I'm still here in your head, then logically..."
"Brainstorm, this is a lot to take in."
    "Yeah! Believe me, I know!"

    - The Transformers S04E09: 'First Principals' (4/5)

(this would have worked out a lot better if Brainstorm had a more distinctive silhouette. Oh well)

Yes indeed. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride.

I think they've come on a long way in recent years, but it's unavoidably a less fun experience than real Lego. For one thing, the QC on the bricks isn't as ludicrously stringent as Lego have, and to make sure there aren't any loose connections here or there they've upped the clutch across the board, so bricks are just a little bit too tight together. And almost every brick has mould flash on it somewhere, which is pretty egregious.

I'm not a scale absolutist by any means - to be that is to send yourself absolutely mad with obsessively comparing the size of every mould against each other. But I do now tend towards a general rule that jetformers should usually be bigger than carformers. The standard of cars being deluxe-class, truck cabs being voyager, is more or less as far as I go. If I were to be more absolutist about it I'd insist on jets being larger leader-class toys, but who has time for that? Voyagers are fine, they exist in their own little scale bubble.

Thing is, realistic alt modes that are even half-based in real-world vehicles do have comparable scale because real-world equivalents exist. But giant space robots don't exist (THAT WE KNOW OF!!!LOLOL) so there's no real basis for scale at all. Certainly the cartoon and comics were so inconsistent with the size of the robots that it has little to no real bearing on anything as far as I'm concerned.

I do wonder. You can kinda excuse them for not touching MASK because it's a mostly-forgotten brand that they don't think they can sell enough units of, but GI Joe would probably really benefit from a sales boost by being hitched to a TF crossover. Maybe they've been stalling because they keep thinking they can make this shared movie universe work, and they're waiting for a crossover movie? Good luck with that, lads.

Well, there's probably room in the next two weeks' episodes. Punch/Counterpunch gets a spotlight next week, and the week after I'm gritting my teeth for wacky hijinks with Wheelie and Gnaw, so...

(I'm conscious that I've been leaning towards the heavier, more adult kind of stories lately, and the G1 cartoon really wasn't anything like that. More wacky hijinks, I guess. I've also got a problem that I can't set stories on Nebulos, as thanks to the end of The Rebirth I'd need Cerebros/Fort Max to make an appearance, and I don't have one)

Forgive me for sounding like I'm stupid is this an honest comment? Or just pure enablement :)
The Listing for G1 cartoon bots on TFWiki doesn't feature either TS or TT in any cartoon episodes and my memory of Rebirth is very fresh as I watch it regularly lol

The only reason I ask is I sold my pair after deciding to consolidate to G1 cartoon bots only and now you're making me worry :(

Cheers, definitely worth waiting for a sale then.

    The Entertainer.

Comics sometimes sell their stuff. Maybe Nerd Toys, Collectors Den, Tin Soldier, Into the Verse?

Wingfinger is £14 and Rodimus 89 or so in Smyths. Frankly I'd wait or look around online, but there you go.

Oh, Brian...stop! You're just saying that because I'm smart and handsome.

I'm very glad to hear this. Not the sickness bits. Thoughts with Mrs O'B!

I'm really sorry to hear all this, man, and I hope she's ok!

#Deskbot today is deluxe Cyberverse Megatron. Out of the 5 deluxes from the line I own I'd say he's the second...least good? He's not a terrible by any means (that'll be Grimlock) but he's just a little too floppy and his shoulders are odd. Fun transformation and like the alt-mode though.

I will say the transparency in your site is amazing, and the effort is very much appreciated. I know full well if somethings in stock, and the updates are always easy to find (something missing in a lot of retailers)

Thundercracker arrived yesterday - my first experience of this version of the MP seekers (and my first MP TC in anime colours, my only other one is the very excellent MP07 in realistic colours). Sexy boy!

I've been enjoying it all so far man, heavy or not. I'm sure wheelie and gnaw will bring the fun.

For something that turns into a head, cerebros is a great figure. I have wondered if hasbro would ever say 'fuck it' and release a new version of cerebros or voyager Fort max - that was compatible still with the tr titan.

My ideal - IDW 1.0 Fort Max leader class (but like tall voyager) who can turn into his IDW tank mode and also a TR Fort Max compatible head. So essentially PE Warden, but with a more comic accurate alt mode and compatible with TR Titan bod :p

Or if some enterprising 3p company could make an adopted for Warden to work with TR Max.

You aren't missing anything dude, our own @Imperator has headcannoned a continuation of season 4 past the Rebirth.

TS and TT never featured outside of the Marvel G1 comics initially. Which is a a testament to them considering they seemed to lurk on toy boxes the world over without much marketing support. :p

Those titan return versions were liquid gold. I do hope they get a retro box release for anyone still after them.

I'm only stating empirical evidence mate, sure I'm a Scorpio myself ;)

Cheers man. Taking care of her well enough, I've been on full-time cooking and chore duty since August. Probably for the best mind you, I am the better cook.

He's floppy. But wouldn't he make a good Xxaron repaint?

    Yup....
The Knights who landed on Mederi (not knowing it was a clinic and believing they'd found Cybertopia) etched the map into the matrix and sent a few of the lads home to Cybertron to let the rest of them know they'd found it. Presumably the they 'forgot' the map or the only ones who knew about it died.

It is bizarre. Even if for some reason they didn't want to do a full on branded on the box crossover you feel like they could sneak some in as redecos with recognisable names like they have done with some GoBots. Like have a jetformer called Skystriker, or a redeco of a long nose Optimus called Rhino or whatever

A lot of fun ideas :)  there's actually a Hound VAMP design in Earth Wars from when they did a GI Joe crossover, along with Soundwave HISS Tank, Skywarp as a Night Raven, Jetfire as a Skystriker as new bots, and the already in game Powerglide and Viper got a GI Joe makeover with Viper getting the Decepticobra logo on his wings and paired with... Baroness? And Powerglide got GI Joe logos and paired with Scarlett... though that was entirely aesthetic and the Joes/Cobra don't actually appear in battle, just in the character viewer.

Use a carboard cutout! Or he's always just off screen because the animators were on strike :D

I have similar feelings. Got him for the Macaddam part but I'm thinking I'll repurpose him as a Tank Drone or something, maybe give him a new head :)

They didn't know it was a Euthanasia Clinic when they put the map in the Matrix and sent it back to Cybertron. I don't think they ever did find out before it er rendered services :D

    Edit: Ninja'ed!

Edit2: I forgot to put a pic of the Hound VAMP from Earth Wars, though all these can be found on the relevant pages on TFWiki

Have you seen this new thread in the radicons heavy custom section:

Heavy/Scratch: - DIY Titans Return Cerebros (for TR Fortress Maximus)

Pretty impressive work. Will he release the files for printing, I doubt but might be inclined to come to an arrangement for separate orders.

    As per the tfwiki...
Some ten million years ago, the Knights of Cybertron, suffering from an outbreak of atrophosia and seeking the nearest medical center, supposedly stumbled across the planet. The telepaths determined that the Transformers, tired, scared, and dying from illness, wanted to return to Cybertron but still discover new worlds, and resolved these conflicting desires by creating a "perfect" Cybertron for them to inhabit, which would come to be remembered in Cybertronian legend as the mythical "Cyberutopia." Never realizing the truth of their paradise, and euphoric to the point of forgetting they were dying, they encoded a map to Mederi into the Matrix of Leadership and sent it home so that others would be able to find their way there. And then, presumably, they all died.

    And handsome, and smart!
