Cheers for the recommendation, I will look into it. I’m just studying film, decided to take my customising hobby to the next step during lockdown without any engineering background, but it’s been fun.

it’s good stuff! I’ve seen students in product design degrees get jobs with less advanced work.

I’ve recently started working on this Unicron again after figuring out how to do his arm transformation.

I took the opportunity to experiment on adding some pigment into my resin to eliminate paint chipping and to avoid the painting process overall. I’m really happy with the results so far. The quality of the resin doesn’t seem to be affected.

I’m now printing the parts that are locked and done. Working on finishing the toes and details on the legs after I’ve just figured out how to tuck his legs into his body.

I’ve printing my Unicron just slightly taller than my G1 Hot Rod because 1) this is still the first print and if anything doesn’t match up, it’s a small print and 2) I’ve ran out of shelf space but I’ll be completely happy with a Unicron this size. And because it’s a 3D file, scaling up will always be possible.

This is fantastic work, man. I wish I had a 3D printer and even an inkling of design talent. This is just phenomenal!

Thanks. He’s really close to being done design wise. I think 99% of the engineering hurdles have been passed so now it’s just finishing up. I’ll print his legs overnight and what’s left is only the main sphere and the back flaps.

I’ve got even more of him printed. I’ve sorted out the leg transformation after racking my brain trying to hide the toes and add a big enough heel for support while counting in space for clearance. Think I’ve done it.

Printing the yellow detailing on the legs.

Another bit of update tonight as I’ve printed out the rest of his legs and red details too.

    538233A8-FF7C-4C97-8D2A-BAA4D5D7B4F9.jpeg

I added actually a large amount of red pigment to the existing yellow because I’m running out of white. It was a little difficult for the printer I may have to mess with the settings a little bit to amend that, but all the red parts for Unicron have been printed.

I am now able to start seeing the shape of the planet and am super happy with how the legs tuck up. There’s a few sliders but they do have tabs in needed.

Finally finished making this G1 Unicron! Been a long journey and took me almost a week to print him out from my resin printer!

    A1F555BD-0797-4B68-B6DC-22CED2977C8B.jpeg F92C2C07-B847-40AF-9378-D371DE66B469.jpeg 57C175BB-85A1-428F-864F-B086F7ED0C62.jpeg

It’s my first time separating colours and this completely eliminates paint rub and it’s a process I’ll carry on to future projects.

Size wise, I’ve printed my Unicron at Hot Rod’s size because it’s almost the maximum my printer allows, plus I’ve got no shelf space so he’s a welcome addition at this scale!

There’s a few things Ill need to change to improve the toy for final release. But this is my Unicron FINALLY done! So good to have him in hand Complete!
