My KO MP-36 is pretty metallic even though the grey tones are darker than those of THF Dynastron. Below are some comparisons... and I attempted to create the most consistent lighting and angles that I could.

...and once again with DS001 to really show a bit of a subtle metallic shine when compared to Crimson Wings!

So far, I'm quite happy with KO MP-36... but I just wish I could change out the Decepticon symbol for a 'toy faction label'.

Unfortunately, you are correct! It truly is the "luck of the draw".

My KO MP Soundwave arrived with a fused, immovable arm... which snapped when I attempted to move it.

So now I have one official MP Soundblaster, one broken KO MP Soundwave, and one THF Sonicwave.

And I guess whenever FansToys releases their Robot Paradise, I'll have a fourth cassette-man in the mix!

Yeah, it's very odd. The early straight KO MP Megatron pics seemed much paler, almost pearlescent, while the THF looked darker and more metallic. But maybe that was just how the photos made them appear. I've never had another version in-hand to compare with my THF.

Yeah I was sorely tempted to jump on that, even with shipping to the UK making it more than $200. But then, ebay want almost another $50 on top for taxes. Geddouttahere!

I remembered this morning that I sold my official Megs for £150 + p&p threeish years ago. Sigh.

Seller says this is the original grey one.
Was there a different colored one than that?
I know that there is a transparant one.

I used to own a thf megs, and it was very metallic silver. I regretted selling it so i got a new one. But its a lot flatter grey metallic.
So im wondering if there have been multiple colors.

Quick query for you THF owners out there. What would you say he's worth? If you didn't have one, would you drop $170 on him?

I'm not the best person to ask, since I'm more price sensitive than many collectors, and comparing relative prices to official products is tough since the MP line has gone crazy with their prices in recent years.

I paid about $100 shipped for mine from TF-Direct, and that hit the sweet spot for me. It felt like a solid MP figure, and I've had no regrets. I probably would have paid a bit more. For me he was the best version out of the various MP Megs options.

Thanks guys. It's real tough. An AE seller I use supposedly had copies available late sunday night/early monday morning, but i hesitated in case it was a mislist and they were gone. Probably 2/3 the cost of what's available now.

I'm like you SMOG, fairly price sensitive and always make sure I at least get a fiver or so off the price; especially in a case like this where the cost difference would be a considerable chunk towards something else. The worry that stock will vanish altogether and that'll be it, just unreliable KOs left puts the fear in me.

$100 I'd be all in. Hell, if I didn't get stung £23 tax for buying it and it was just the flat £100 I'd be sold, still £50 cheaper than my official cost way back and it does have some nice upgrades. It kills me a bit knowing I could easily have had it for almost half that.

Again thanks guys. Think I'll sit on this one til something happens to push me either way.

The original one is the darker metallic gray/silver with gold eyes on the toy-styled head and a pink blade on the saber, then later ones are a lighter gray with red eyes on the toy head and a red saber blade.

I've definitely been there before. The KO scene is especially tricky, because it seems like there are tons of quantity, but by the time you wait for a review on the quality, availability can dry up suddenly.

$170 USD is a chunk of cash. Speaking for myself, I'd probably hold out for a better price. I've regretted choices like that in the past, but if I set my hard price limit, and it never comes around, I tell myself it was never meant to be.

Okay, so that's the one I got. I quite liked the gold eyes, though I did repaint the toy-style head because the grey paint on the face was a bit too dull.

AliE seller TOTOTOYS has some up for £62.26! Cost me £71 after taxes, or $98! I've read they're not the quickest seller, but as long as he gets here in good nick and is good QC I am one very happy chappy :D

Have now put in POs for RP Soundwave and his cassettes, KO Shockwave, DS SW and TC and am looking to order Opticlones from BBB once they get my voucher xode working. Now that'll be a chunk of change! Fuck it I'm worth it :lol
I guess next month I'll put an order in for Thomas and get a Berserk PO, and that'll do me for a nice little shelf of Decepticons.

Holy shit it's true    it wasn't there yesterday. The only THF-03 (normal version) I could find was from Shop911135143 Store for around ~147$ using a promo code (SF11) but now I grabbed him for ~89,24$ (using that SF11 code). MUCH MUCH THANKS FOR LETTING ME KNOW
Don't worry, TOTOTOY is legit ;)  I have a couple figures from him
haha I have FT Brawn incoming, received Thomas and Crimson Wings this month and I'm planning to get MP-35 Grapple and FT Beachcomber next! :drunk :scalper

Haha yeah I've been watching TOTO like a hawk since my slip up on Sunday night :lol  Glad to help a bro in need, may they arrive swiftly and safely :D
I hoped as much! Sure he's not a big mover, but reviews look very positive and only complaints I really found were in another older thread here. He seemed a nice chap when I spoke to him.

Nice! Brawn is solid, love mine. Dunerunner is amazing, picked mine up from Terry earlier this year. If you're going KO, I recommend TOMY MP STORE. Got my Grapple from them a week or so ago and the quality is spot on.

Awesome luck! I think you'll enjoy the KO MP Shockwave. I owned the KO and the official, and the KO was unquestionably superior (excepting the issue with the paint flaking on the arm-hose). Great piece.

For those still after him, TOTOTOYS do still have stock!

Very awesome! Very glad I didn't buy that $170 one now :lol  You know I think I actually happened across your original post about the KO from some time ago, in this thread. I'd ordered him off evilbay cos he was cheap, but reading your words about it was a big relief. Looks like a lot of things are coming up me lately, very happy!

Now the painful wait for everything to arrive. May have to invest in a better display area next.

Ha! Old posts live on forever!

I hope the QC is still what it was when I got mine! The other takeaway is that the official Takara MP Shockwave is not impressive enough for its $170 price tag, so it's not hard for the KO to outclass it. :)
