    It's also compatible with my observations of Shouki. In robot mode it appears to be slightly bigger than a car robot MP, which put him in
    the current leader/voyager ballpark for a mainline comparison. In torso mode (half torso actually, since another Trainbot forms the dorsal and crotch area) it compresses a lot as indicated by the split front size and this is why the resulting combiner is relatively small. Supposedly this is needed to mantain the scale of the train modes and results also in gangly legs. Overall i think that's overpriced, but it's compatible to the interview saying that the size of the combined mode was comparable to Unite Warriors combiners. Many thought instantly that it was going to be similar to Devastator (which, while made of voyagers has wildly different components, just look at Long Haul) , however that was the exception and not the rule being a re branded Titan class and not very representative of the line as a whole. Tldr, i hope you like trains, a lot.

    I'm going to need more confirmation before I believe that height but It wouldn't shock me if this guy was under sized but 11.42 inches tall seems extreme even for Takara

    Oof not even a foot tall? Yeah I am out. I can understand it not being CW Devastator height but a 6 bot combiner being smaller than the normal CW combiners for nearly $1000, nope. Pretty sure I am just going to stick with CHUG from now on and hope Raiden comes eventually since they are already redoing combiners starting with Menasor.

    Yeah, I thought Raiden might be the same size as the titan combiners...but only being about a foot tall is pretty much a deal breaker at the asking price.

    Sorry, Takara. This was probably the wrong way to tackle this project.

    Your guess would make a lot more since especially going by what you would consider big over there DX Voltes was about $700 at 14 inches and the Metal Build Nu was $1000 at 15. Then again I'll wait for official confirmation before I start speculating. Eleven, thirteen or fifteen inches I don't think its going to make much difference to a lot of people over there, this is like a holy grail for a lot of people over there, they're buying him for that and not being 18 or 20 inch combiner.

    Initially it was presented as an oddball project with unclear ties to the MP line and more for train models enthusiasts nostalgic of Raiden. Putting it in a MP sub line at that price point isn't the best move in my opinion, but it has to be seen how well is received in Japan.

    12....inches....tall? Am I tripping or something? How is it even possible to make 5 masterpiece scaled figures combine to only be 12 inches? Are these dudes gonna stack sideways or something? Am I missing something?

    A video review of the transformation of the original Raiden components should give you an idea considering that this is a direct evolution. The Trainbots compress a lot when transforming and this explains all the empty areas visible in Shouki. We are also talking about six MP more or less at voyager size with a torso made of two of them sandwiched and compressed. Even now the legs looks gangly, if it was bigger it would look like on stilts. This is caused by the need to respect the train scale, so you have the opposite of what happens with a combiner with components compressing instead of extending.

    Yeah Shouki seems to collapse down similar to a headmaster/titanmaster (to be exact, similar to a Maketoys headmaster) and become really compact.

    It used to be:
    1 train for each arm (+ torso filler)
    1 train for each calf
    1 train as hips, waist and thighs and head
    1 train as the upper torso

    From what I can tell, MPG Raiden will be:
    1 train for each arm
    1 train for each calf (+ ankle wings, or should I say, ankle blocks)
    1 train for the hips, thighs, possibly going further down into the calves as well
    1 train for the entire torso

    Yup. HO is super-popular in the US (more than all other scales combined), and is still #1 but not to quite the same degree in Europe, but in Japan N reigns supreme by a good margin.

    If this really ends up being only 1 foot tall it's pretty hilarious! Should make a nice legends scale Raiden though...

    Size doesn’t matter. That’s what she didn’t say, lol. Wow. I thought it would be at least as big as CW Devy.

    Devastator (And Predaking) are both out of scale with the other combiners so fuck him. Looks like this is somehow going to be scaled to all the other combiners, which is great since there's a third party doing their own Raiden so that option and size will be covered as well.

    So, as I already said in a previous post, if everything shown in the picture with Shouki in train mode and all the accessories is correctly in scale, Raiden's chest plate is around 8-8.5 cm wide. For reference, I measured the chest of some other bots in my collection:
    TR Fortress Maximus is 20;
    Zeta Toys Superion (50cm combiner) is 14cm;
    UW Devastator is 14cm (only the chest, excluding the threads of the arm bots);
    MP Magnus is 9 cm;
    MP Star Saber is around 8cm.
    We know from the pictures that the upper bound for Raiden 's body width is around 2xthe height of train mode, or around 10cm assuming the quoted height of 5cm for the train (which is consistent with him being a 1:87 scale model train).
    Again, the evidence so far seems to point in the direction of Raiden being close in height to MP Star Saber. I hope we'll turn out to be wrong, but people who wish for a combiner comparable to titan class better be prepared for disappointment.

    Mentioned this in the G1 Speculation thread but if this size is true, I’ll probably only be in for Raiden on this line and inly because I’m a sucker for trains. I’m not all about scale, but CW combiners are hilariously undersized when compared to most figures, let alone MPs (don’t get me wrong, they’re still decent for what they are, they just look too small).

    The alt mode prevalence in the design that caused the small size of the combined mode is due to the origin of Raiden as a side project, so it will probably not used as the golden standard for the line...assuming it survives long enough. It's literally impossible to do something like that with other combiners, especially Defensor and Bruticus.

    I don't believe the original Diaclone trainbots could have been N scale unless Japan uses different scale designations. They had seats for the Diaclone pilots, but an N scale train would not be large enough to have space for even those tiny figures.

    They fit on N scale track. I used to have them displayed in train mode on N Scale track from one of my sets.
