We have seen 2 Animated Beast Dinobots from Beast Wars and War for Cybertron Kingdom. Which voice are you more into?

Scott Mcneil: A Raspy Lizard voice.

Honestly, if they switched Tigatron's voice and Dinobot's voice in the Kingdom show, it would have been a lot better than what they ended up going with.

Scott McNeil. He had longer to voice the character, and had more to work with in terms of depth, development, and character relationships, and I think that all reflected in his performance.

I liked the other actor's voice, but don't really remember anything memorable about it the vocal performance, though I lay that more at the trilogy than the actors.

Scott McNeil is perfect for BW Dinobot. A vicious, brutal Predacon warrior who was cast out of the Predacons because of his failed takeover attempt. He only joined the Maximals in hopes of eventually defeating Megatron, so straight up using them for his own advantage. The raspy, snarly voice purpose is to set him apart from the rest of the Maximals, to constantly remind you that he is not a "good guy". He is 100% not noble until much much later, and it took 1 and a half seasons for him to get there.

Krizz Kaliko is a good voice for Kingdom Dinobot, but as others have said, he would have been better as Tigatron (Someone who should be Deeper and Humbler). Pretty much anyone who sounds noble could have voiced this take on Dinobot. He defected because he always was a "good guy", even before they successfully stole the Disk. There is no need to set him apart from anyone with his voice, he's just a good guy in the wrong team, who then dies and helps the good guy team while dead.

The two Dinobots are completely different characters and serve totally different purposes in their shows and their voices sort of reflect that.

Scott McNeil, his voice for dinobot fits with his beast mode(waspinator for example) and he betrays dinobot more of the a warrior with honor.

I don't think there's a single character voice from WFC in which I would take that voice over an alternative version's.

I thought BW Dinobot’s voice— along with those of many other characters in that series— was unpleasant. As bad as the voice acting generally was in WFC, I greatly preferred that actor’s portrayal. In fact, I almost liked the character after watching Kingdom, and I didn’t enjoy Kingdom at all.

I felt that WFC Kingdom Dino bot and Tigertron should of switched voice actors. But I will always think of Scott when I see Dinobot.

I got to recently hear Scot McNeil's voice for Dinobot in Beast Wars, and I'm sorry, but the only character I heard was Starscream.

Krizz Kaliko's voice for Dinobot in Kingdom is actually very close to what I expected the character to sound like, I'd say roughly 70% - 80%. 90% might be pushing it a little.

I like the raspy, nasally voice for Dinobot. I'm biased because I grew up on Beast Wars, so it's a natural association I have.
However, I do think it fits. Not only does it make his voice have the stereotypical "Bad guy" vibe to it, it also gives him an angry and aggressive demeanor when he speaks.
The deeper voice gives him a calmer and less intense tone. And yeah, it's a cool sounding and good voice job, no doubt, but it just didn't sit right with Dinobot.

I get this. I grew up on G1, not BW, so I have no nostalgic attachment to that series. And admittedly, I don’t like BW after finally watching it as an adult. I found Dinobot’s voice in BW as gratingly annoying as I did Starscream’s in G1.

Nostalgia can be a strong influence. But objectively, I feel that over-acted, stereotypical “bad guy” voices tend to dumb-down the fiction. They’re unrealistic and trite. Just like the perma-pissed angry face Dinobot wears— you shouldn’t need to advertise a protagonist with obvious visual clues. Many of the worst people I’ve known in my life were— on the surface— seemingly attractive and pleasant. It’s their behavior that reveals their true nature.

So, I understand why people generally prefer the original Dinobot voice (much like everyone thinks Peter Cullen’s voice is so iconic), but I feel Dinobot’s WFC depiction was a much more mature presentation of the character.

I’m surprise this is even a conversation

there wasn’t a single Voice from WFC that I would prefer over The original or most of the previous incarnations

That’s not to say that I hated every voice and WFC, to tell the truth I felt some of them were more than good enough but just not better than me neither to CampbellThat’s not to say that I hated every voice and WFC, to tell the truth I felt some of them were more than good enough but just not better than those that had come before

Apples to oranges. Both voices are fine, but it's the direction that screws it up.
Clearly somebody on the rooster teeth team didn't do their research, as it does feel like the directions for tigatron and dinobot are swapped. When you consider how most of the other cast is doing an impression of their g1 predecessors, or a new take on the character's archtype, we can safely assume this is a simple mishap. There's a precedent for this with ironhide and Hound also suffer from this.
With that being said- I actually do prefer the WFC Voice in a vacuum. Like, if dinobot was an original character, and I hear these two as auditions, I would prefer the later. It's less cobra commander and quite competently executed in it's own right. Considering the issues Tilman has imitating Cullen, this is the best performance we could have gotten with this low production value.
That, and the new voice is weirdly sexy. I'm not the only one thinking it, right?

Scott, of course. Heck, if they were so worried about cutting costs in WFC (and let's face it, that's blatantly obvious), why didn't they just hire Scott McNiel and have him do half the cast like was done for BW? (And yes, I know he was really only 5 characters - Dinobot, Rattrap, Waspinator, Silverbolt and Dinobot II but that's still a decent chunk of change saved!)

I don't agree with you on G1 Starscream's voice but I'm 100% in agreement with you on Dinobot's voice. I always found it forced and corny.

I have to respectfully disagree with you on some of the voices.

I much preferred the voices of Netflix Red Alert, Elita-One, Scorponok, Dinobot, Rattrap, Galvatron (over Welker in Season 3), Alpha Trion, Sky Lynx and Arcee.

I preferred Megatron and Prime too given their characters in Netflix.

I think the Decepticons suffered more with their new voices. Starscream and Soundwave never seem to capture the originals apart from Soundwave in the Bumblebee movie which took 34 years to match his iconic G1 voice. Skywarp and Thundercracker fared little better.
