I picked up the vintage Beast Wars Megatron today from Walmart since I picked up the vintage Optimus Primal a few days prior as I never had either figure back when I got back into Transformers during the Beast Wars cartoon era. ...I think I know why I didn't get back into Transformers through Beast Wars until after they introduced the Transmetal toys...the original Beast Wars toys were...not great. Optimus and Megs are both loaded with gimmicks that really kinda hamper the figures. I get WHY they did it given they were trying all kinds of things to revive Transformers, but the Transmetal figures were just so much better not just because chromed figures look awesome, but they were not very gimmicky and very close to the TV show source material. Also found a few more MOTU Origins figures I've been looking for today. Just looking for Trap Jaw, Orko, Scareglow, and Faker now.
If there are any PR collectors here, AV Target off Pilot has the three Dino Fury Zord sets. They're $27 each, so if you wait until tomorrow they're starting the "Spend 50 save 10, spend 100 save 25" thing and you could clean up. (Alternatively you could buy the boxed set off Amazon for $68.)
Yesterday Chaska Target had 2 of the MPM Optimus Primes. Chanhassen Target had 2 Gnaw. Eden Prairie Target had 2 Tracks.
20,184 Backers as of this moment, We are getting the shield! this is the first Haslab thing I have ever backed.. any idea how long for it to be produced and shipped out?
I finally backed Saber, and now I’m wondering if I should buy two, in case one has two right hands or something.
I don't mind gimmicks or show accuracy (since it was the mid 90's and the show was CG so like... realistic expectations), but I didn't get a lot of the pre-transmetal BW figures because the engineering was super simple, especially the early basic 'autotransforming' guys. Chrome I feel pretty 'eh' about since it doesn't always last, but Transmetal Rhinox, Noctorro, and Sky Shadow were the first official members of what would become my collection. I feel like stuff started hitting a sorta cool blend of style + engineering that I enjoyed, and man, Transmetal 2 still has some of the wildest TF designs ever. Also, almost done with the massive cleaning I've been doing in my TF room. Here's what I'm throwing out/donating from the 2 1/2 hours of work today: Honestly, there's just so many garbage bags because a lot of what I was throwing out was titan-class boxes, and the plastic inserts are annoyingly huge. Still.... room's almost presentable again!
Man, I remember when I used to try and keep boxes for all my toys. Then I basically shrunk that down to just the boxes for Masterpieces and a few other things like NECA TMNT movie stuff (I still haven't taken some of them out ever to pose)
Is that a freakin Antec Lanboy Air case in black and red? Mine is busted up and I've wanted replacement bits for ages
I should have taken before and after pics of all the boxes of BW boxes I had at my dad's and how they all fit in to *one* tub once I flattened them.
I have a few vintage TMNT boxes flattened in a box here somewhere. Basically Party Wagon, Turtle Blimp, Foot Cruiser, Turtlecopter, etc...
haha, it totally is. It's pretty dusty, but if you're in the market, we could prolly work something out.
Hey so Target actually shipped the SS86 Slug that was on backorder. Anyone interested? Should be here by the end of the week. It ended up being an extra after I got one off Best Buy.
Alternatively, you bought yourself something to look forward to next Christmas! For me, I'm just itchin' to get the new HeroQuest. It's been just over a year since that funding finished, so it should be any day now.
