For a MP collector this set is an easy pass. Takara is no longer producing true MP figures. The Zeta/Moon Studio set is superior to this set and at almost half the cost. For me there are only three real MP companies Fanstoys, Maketoys, and Zeta (Cang studio, which I may sell/trade the three pieces I own, and Moon Studio).

 

Yes, that is my opinion and what I think, anyone can disagree, and if you like this set and are buying it good for you, enjoy,post some pics of how you decided to display them, as you could change my opinion or others.

 

Really can't see a 30cm tall combiner made of 3 20cm robots stacked, without being twice as thick as CW Devastator. If Takara can now reach that level of compressing already, the next MP could be a Broadside with two alt-modes that are in scale with each other.
If I'm wrong and Raiden will actually be Devastator sized, then that's better.

 

Now i've a theory about the "MPG" scale.
We now know that takara wants component scale (which honestly i prefer, a Mixmaster taller than MP44 would bother me a lot), combiners for physics can't be really tall. So, they can add robot minifigure with every component (slightly bigger than Hound's Spike)

 

The biggest L Takara is taking here is not being upfront about everything, unlike Moon Studio

I think everyone can agree the Takara combined silhouette looks horrendous. For all we know it might actually look great but seeing as that’s the only picture we have to go by the other set is gonna win people over just because they showed what every mode of every figure looks like already.

Takara is objectively losing by not showing all the figures because even though they might actually be amazing, 1 terrible looking silhouette isn’t gonna make me buy an apparently worse product for twice as much $$$

 

They should do an MPG Magmatron.

Looks decent enough. Not buying into this combiner but it sets the bar of what we will be paying for other MP combiners,which is gonna suck on the ole wallet.

 

Mp44 broke the ceiling on pricing when he sold like gangbusters. Also we all should thank 3p as well. Takara just wants to get a piece of the actipn. 

 

I don't think the silhouette is as damning as it may initially seem, personally. I think we're just seeing it at an angle and with blurry, curved lines, instead of accurately/cleanly designed ones. And without the benefit of any external coverings that the shoulders/arms and waist may provide to the torso. I do think the final shape and colors of the combined mode in some areas will be inaccurate to the animation (as is probably inevitable regardless.) But the overall shape really isn't that far off imo. Trying to visualize three dimensional bricks in splotchy two dimensional outlines with no depth or details isn't an accurate way to depict them or form expectations.

 

MP44 is the face of the Franchise, a G1 Optimus Prime and G1 Megatron will probably always sell extremely, be it a chug, MP, or any other scale. How many Darth Vaders and Boba Fetts do SW collectors own and what was the price range, TVC, Hot Toys, etc... Popular characters of a line will always sell, cannot blame Takara for wanting to cash in, but what you can blame Takara for is much higher prices for inferior products.

 

TakaraTomy flat-out couldn't care less. Their target audience with this project is an absolute lock, and the Moon Studios version won't even put a dent in that.

Also, I can't draw to save my life, at all, and I know this looks horrible, and is both incomplete and inaccurate, but this is just to make the point, in extremely rough sketch form, conceptually, that perspective can lie in silhouette. This is why the silhouette doesn't worry me (yet, at least.)

 

That’s what I was saying about Kaen, the actual train is actually shorter than most of the others but no way he squishes up into just those 3 blocks , it’s obviously some stuff is not being picked up in the silhouette.

 

What I don't understand is why the feet wings are so fat...
