Found Waspinator tonight, along with all of his wavemates at a local Walmart.

The main thing enjoyable about this figure is his light piping. It makes for some deep beautiful colors.

Found the little guy last week and I love him. After Rhinox and Scorponok felt kinda half assed, Waspy shows they’ve still got it.

My favorite thing is by far the vibrant colors. I love the bright green and yellow, and especially that show-stealing purple light piping. He looks gorgeous. He’s so vibrant and pretty and man I just love how he looks. His robot mode to me looks just like the cartoon character or at least close enough. I haven’t transformed him yet, but I really only get Transformers for their robot modes and transform them infrequently, except for the Kingdom figures since their beast modes were big parts of who they were. That is, I make an exception for the Predacons with insect/arachnid/etc alt modes since I’m squeamish. I even hesitated to pick up Blackarachnia for a while since she’s a spider and all. But I have kept her in robot mode for some time and it’s cool. Same with Waspy.

Would definitely recommend. I never had the T30 toy, but I much prefer the colors on this little guy. Kingdom has still got it.

I find this positioning of the rear wasp legs to be a bit more flattering and all Waspinator figures look a bit incomplete with their stinger out so he's got the T30 gun.

    Pros:
    * Nice, reasonably screen-accurate robot mode, barring some concessions to the beast form.
    * Fairly realistic, if somewhat kibbly wasp mode. Reminds me of those smaller wasp species that lay eggs on larger bugs, which then get eaten by the larvae.
    * Both modes are pretty solid, if you get all bits pegged in right.
    * I'm kinda mixed-feelings about the purple wings, but the color is very nice on the eyes for bot wasp and robot modes.
    * Got the nice WFC-style articulation, and even the wasp mode can move some parts around, like the head and mandibles.

    Pros VS T30:
    * While each toy has advantages over the other, the Kingdom toy has a slight edge in robot screen-accuracy, in proportion and color.
    * Transformation seems to have fewer joints with potential to stress or break.
    * Wasp mode is more realistic, where T30 used a curious mix of organic and robotic details in beast mode. Both have robot arms and legs on display, but the arms are tucked away a bit better on Kingdom.
    * Articulations are better on Kingdom, especially below the waist, with a (slightly blocked) waist rotation and better range to the knees and ankles. Similar can be said for the wasp wings and head as well.

    Cons:
    * Dude, why so short? Waspy follows Scorponok's lead in looking kinda small viewed next to the likes of Cheetor, Airazor, or Blackarachnia. If you go with Cheetor & Primal as a benchmark, Waspy should be close to Cheetor's height according to most sources.
    * The stinger weapon feels like a lame afterthought. At the least they should have made the little stinger nub on the end "bloosh combatible" for blast effects.
    * More a nitpick, but it seems like a missed opportunity that Kingdom Waspy didn't have peg-on removable limbs like SS86 Kup. The T30 has a slight advantage in that regard, as most of its parts attach via ball-and-socket joints.
    * The bug legs and antennae are IMO a borderline travesty, obtrusive in robot mode, thick, and mushy looking, like someone took a decent insect leg sculpt, then dipped it in chocolate.

    Cons VS T30:
    * If comparative robot size is important to you, the T30 scales better next to the likes of Cheetor or Airazor.
    * T30 has an unimpressive yet superior hand weapon, and less articulated yet less gappy lower legs.
    * Kingdom's smaller frame really makes those big heavy choco pretzel bug legs stand out like sore thumbs in bot mode.
    * Kingdom lacks the flappy-wing gimmick of T30. You probably think freely-posable purple wings is a better option, but you'd be wrong. Shame on you.

    Overall:
Another lateral move. If you have both, it's apparent how similar the two toys are, and how the Kingdom Waspy refines the basic design of the T30 mold according to its own priorities. Is it better? Yeah, in a number of ways, but also falls short in a few others. Either the T30 or Kingdom mold are excellent Waspinator toys taken alone. If you already have the T30 Waspinator or one of its more show-accurate repaints, you can probably skip the Kingdom toy without regrets, unless you are strongly focused on one or more of the mild differences where it is superior. Conversely, there's no need to track down a T30 mold Waspy with kingdom available and affordable now - unless you are zoned in on the toy's height or the diameter of its insect legs.

Got my copy. Transformation has some steps I didn’t expect. Mostly intuitive but some of the tab connections are a bit too tight and hard to untab. I like the use of light piping but the translucent plastic here is too dark for it. Articulation is good for the most part, the most annoying thing is that the torso connection easily disconnects. Also I wish the insect legs had more articulation to conform/compress along the limbs instead of just rotating at the attachment points. They’ve gotten in the way when posing.

I agree on all counts. Except for the bright purple bits are not too hard to light up as Ive shown in photos. When its pulled off successfully. Its gorgous to behold.

Got a copy of this along with Shadow Panther.
Long story short, I seriously do NOT like this figure. I never intended to get it in the first place, but curiosity won out.

    Pros:
    -I like the purple.
    -Bug head moves.
    That's it.

    Cons:
-The torso will not stay tabbed in when the arms are moved.
-The bug head in bot mode should lock in place, but doesn't.
-The bug head compresses every time I move the figure.
-Waist articulation is pointless when it causes the waist to untab when moved.
    -Insect legs are a joke.
    -Weapon is basically a lump.

Yeah, I think Tracks has a rival for worst of the line now. I doubt I'll be keeping this and instead go with my original plan on keeping the vastly superior T30 version in place on the shelf.

    What, the torso?
Even with the posts that plug into the back pushed in entirely, it still wobbles and untabs.
There really should be something that holds the bug head open and in place on the torso.

The bug head does have a bit of trouble staying open, but once I get the chest plugged in, it's more loose than anything. The chest itself doesn't have any issues staying put; I wiggled the figure in robot mode, and he stays together solidly.
