You paid that much for an Oscar Meyer frank?

Seriously though, Sworder was THAT under par?

Lol a Pave Low and a dunebuggy!! :)

Well still not as offensive as Octane's or Broadside's scale crimes I guess - carry on.

It may just be a preference thing but honestly there's nothing appealing about the figure for me. I picked it up to fill a gap in the collection and because it was cheap and it just feels -so- lackluster IMO

I imagine fitting an entire Pave Low inside a few pipes and engine will be a bit difficult for XTB.

You can't just write it off as "triple changers are complicated, therefore expensive." XTB's Kup is more than FT's was at launch and even with their price at the last reissue. XTB's Springer is more than both MMC's and FT's was. XTB's trailer cost more alone than DX9's Motormaster AND trailer. Keith got it into his head that he can charge an arm and a leg because Takara can, and it's not unreasonable to think another 3P will do it for cheaper because other third parties consistently do it for cheaper than XTB lately.

You’re still looking at past pricing like that’s relevant to today’s pricing. Fanstoys Apache reissue is 210.00. 10 more than XTB’s Springer. Kup isn’t relevant it’s not a triple changer. Astrotrain/Thomas was 220.00. I’m sure Berserk will be at least 200. Triple changers are more expensive and this is the pricing we’re at now, so waiting on it to be cheaper is a fool’s errand but hey you do you.

And MMC is reissuing their Springer in June at $150. So you want to bend over and keep paying whatever crazy prices Keith dreams up for you, be my guest. I'm not playing that game.

Yeah reissuing old molds shouldn’t be more expensive. I ain’t bending over for shit, I have my Allen I got for 60 on sale back in the day. I’m just saying this is where the price point is at. You don’t like it no one is forcing you nor asking you to argue about it on a thread for a figure you’re not going to purchase.

Which is a small price increase from when it was initially released. Which, according to TCP, was $130.

Saltus is also fairly simple. It's part of what makes is so damn good. The engineering is very efficient, I'd wager that the parts count is less than either Saltus or Apache.

I would have liked to have Saltus, but the lack of ratchets on a big heavy bot is something I can't overlook.

Isn't ibot talking about the new Ditka's sandy colour being cute instead of a Sandstorm hint?

As I can see it, nope. Here's the original post that Keith was replying to, followed by his that was mentioned in the beginning post.

This...Sadly I think Sandstorm and to a lesser degree Broadside are the truly impossible triplechangers. The helicopter is real but try going from something closed, curvy, and aviation based to something open thin railed and blocky. I don't see the physics and UT did a damn good job for what they had to work with I think. It will be interesting what black magic gets this done.

Well... you do remember, that FansToys managed to convert an MP-10 with trailer vehilce into a robtot, slightly bigger, than MP-10, eithout an additional trailer?
Just saying... FT proved, that size isn`t that important anymore, and going from slick curves, to blocky is not that far fatched (actually easy, if any curve just rotates 180 degrees to reveal a blocky counterpart).

I am more worried about curved skinned panels being converted into open space rollbars. I love the black magic that is Roadking but a lot of flat blocky surfaces got transformed into flat surfaces. The other 3changers have core physical modes that lend well to their alt modes. Sandstorm is just weird. I have FP Assaulter for Broadside so there is space there to do something or even partsform although probably unnecessary.

If there are G1 versions, there can be MP versions. MP scale provides many more joint, slider, pivot and other type of transformation mechanisms to enable representing all of the modes even better than the G1 toy did. I want it from FT though. The less XTB stuff on my shelves, the longer I can anticipate the figures lasting without falling apart.

Oh good, a pointless necro to a comment nine months ago. I love disappointment.

Premium price equals premium product or thats how the fallacy goes :D
Don't just take my word for it
Consumers rely on price to determine quality of products

Its a very old tactic in retail and the hospitality industry bump up the price and the customer will lap it up.

In the absence of truthful reviews and manufacturer integrity/pride in what they produce, consumers were left to attempt to use price as some correlation to quality. I wouldn't entirely fault consumers for ending up there after their other means of determining quality have been manipulated or removed. Once upon a time, if it cost more it was typically because it used higher quality components or had more skilled/precision labor in assembly. Nowadays advertisers and marketers game reviews/ratings, write copy that pushes the line of what's acceptable to call "truth in advertising", and use an inflated price to try to take advantage of consumers. That says more about the current level of deceitfulness in those professions than the people they're lying to.
