I have this figure. I like this figure. But I'm in the minority among the TF collectors I talk to.

Its a terrible idea to bring it back for 189.00. I barely bought it at the low ebay price it was at 10 years ago. There's no way Id buy it again for that much and I don't think many others will either. Its just not that good of a figure.
The same goes for that crazy recolored Last Knight Toys R Us Mission to Cybertron Exclusive Primus the put out awhile back. It was a cool figure for its time and great if you could pick it up on ebay at a good price but I didn't buy the re-release for 150.00.
    Thats just crazy expensive.

Obviously I'm glad if you like it and want to buy it, but on a Hasbro "business decision" level, I dont think this is a good choice to bring back.
I bet you will be able to get it on sale though so that's something.

It's hard to judge that here, considering its like an echo chamber in here.

Most people on these boards are twice the age of those who grew up with UT.

Also can't forget young new fans, aka kids that see a cool robot on shelves in the store.

That last part is probably why the Quintesson judge and Grapple shelfwarmed so hard over here

I think Energon Omega Supreme would have been the better choice by far. Cybertron Metro exists because of Copyright trademark refresh nonsense.

I'm sure there are people who are excited though. And for the rest of us there's plenty in Legacy to be excited for.

All we have is a blurry image so, we can't tell so far. The transformation certainly looks more involved than his older version though

Assuming it fixes my complaints with the original (improved proportions, greater G1 accuracy, Deluxe-class Scamper, actual ankles) then I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I wouldn't even sell my Takara Metroplex, I'd give it away.
I suppose that's a bit of a catch-22, yeah. But honestly, the demand for UT is smaller than the demand for G1- I don't think the biggest UT fans will argue with that. The question is how much smaller is still big enough? I doubt Hasbro can sell as many Armada Starscreams as G1 Starscreams, sure, but I'd imagine he'd do better than the Jumpstarters, the Monsterbots, or some of the other characters that got toys in Titans Returns, and that's why I'm advocating for new toys of characters from RiD '01 and the UT (and I'm glad to see a few, like the aforementioned Starscream, in leaks for Legacy). That said, I can't help but see Cybertron Metroplex as an odd choice. Titans already seem like a bad risk/reward for Hasbro. I didn't finish Cybertron, but as far as I don't remember him from the show. I do remember the toy shelfwarming, though. And for as often as I hear people asking for new UT toys I can't recall anyone specifically asking for Metroplex. If they were dead set on doing a non-G1 titan, or specifically a UT titan, Tidal Wave seems like a safer bet to me.

I do have to agree with the people who say that Tidal Wave would have been better. Hell RID Fort Max as a new mold would have been better (you can repaint it later calm down) since he looks damn cool, that TR Fort Max actually does need replacing IMO because it was bad and Fort Max has been a hole in RID for 20 years now. You could do a whole thing with it "a toy 20 years in the making, finally completing the RID line in the west".

That being said I think this is pretty cool too, Cybertron Metroplex is a great design that just needs a few tweaks to really shine imo.
I've seen much more positive reactions on Twitter of all places but that's about it. But yeah kids don't know and more importantly don't care about the differences between Plexes they just see a big robot and go "mummy pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease" until the parent gives in if they can afford it.

You're telling me you can put the original Cybertron Metroplex into a A-stance with his feet flat? I'm not saying you're wrong, because I've never owned the original, but I'm saying there's a ton of pictures of Cybertron Metroplex on the internet and I've never seen one that has Metroplex's feet flat on the ground that didn't also have the legs stock straight.

Yeah, but what if it's worse? I haven't seen a single comment here address that possibility, do people just start demanding a third one or a fourth?

Galaxy Force/Cybertron toys are already as screen accurate as they can get. They can only improve articulation, and perhaps, yes, size. Metroplex was really small compared to the animation, but this guy will still be too small.

I liked the original toy for what it was, a huge articulated action figure. Transformation was a joke. I was a Galaxy Force fan, and the only person I personally knew who liked this guy. I would never think of buying buy another version. Who is Hasbro targeting? Metroplex was never a popular character like, for example, Scourge.

Really strange choice, when we know Armada fans are aching for a good Tidal Wave -not me, I can't stand Armada, but even in my case I acknowledge the fandom desire for it.

I wish the people who don’t want this will post their displeasure and leave the thread. No one is forcing anyone to buy it. Bitching isn’t going to change anything. That way those of us who are excited can bask in UT goodness.

If it's worse then it wouldn't sell. But who honestly thinks it would be worse? I mean, the original predates even the Prime Wars stuff, save it's not like the flaws of T30 Metroplex aren't obvious. Titans started having ankle articulation as far back as Trypticon, and it's been standard for everything Deluxe and up since Siege.

But down the road, do G1 fans keep demanding another? Maybe, maybe not. But they'll keep getting them. Expecting Hasbro to stop doing more G1 is like expecting Bandai to stop doing new toys and kits of the RX-78. Sure, there will be newer Gundams, and maybe some will get popular like SEED, but it always comes back to the OG.

His previous comment was about Cybertron Megatron, who definitely has ankle tilts.

Reading fail on my part. My brain saw "original M" and took it to mean Metroplex, since that's who the thread is about.

There are tons of other things that can happen and go wrong. Plus T30 Metroplex is still pretty good IMO, his biggest flaw is his hips suck, but if you leave him alone he should be fine. plus the only reason it doesn't have ankles is the transformation.
No one expects them to stop, but this constant restarting of G1 only further postpones future lines getting updates, I guarantee you that there will never be another Cybertron Metroplex after this, but if the titan assortment continues there will most likely be another G1 Metroplex eventually. This one doesn't stop that one from being made.

I'm going to agree to disagree on this. I think his proportions are all-around terrible, like they were set on getting that height so they took a proper design and stretched it vertically. The rounded arms, the guns on top of his shoulders, and the ones that plug into the sides of his shoulders are all wrong.
Maketoys figured it out. It's not like it can't be done.
I don't disagree with any of this, and again, despite being a geewunner I'm all for new figures of RiD '01 and UT characters getting made. I just think this one specifically is a weird, and if I'm being honest, disappointing choice. Not just because I'd rather have a new G1 Metroplex, but because I think there are better titan options in the UT, begining with Tidal Wave.

You’ve got to feel sorry for all the people who can’t understand that this will be a new toy and think that this is just going to be a reissue of the original.

I wonder if anyone refused to buy the T30 Metroplex because they didn’t like the G1 toy.

I loved G1 Metroplex, and I'd probably have liked T30 Metroplex better if it was the exact same toy...

This is MY sentiment as well.

Ugh I hope we don't see the beginning of a pattern forming here for any upcoming Titans.....basically oversized TFs that go from HUGE bot, to HUGE alt mode, and that's it. No city mode.

Kinda like the lame Ark that came out recently.
    (my opinion of course)

And before anyone jumps on me for expressing my disappointed of "no city modes", go back and find some of my post from years ago; I posted more "city-bot-configurations" than anyone on this board. (well, that stat might not be 100% accurate, buy you get my point) lol

    I <3 Base Modes.

This by far worse Titan figure they could have come up with they could have easily turned him into a Commander class.

This is one of those figures that they should have crowdfunded to even see the popularity on this instead of StarSaber which is or seems a guaranteed sale.

    Now this WAS a Titan!
