Went ahead and ordered these scythes. Not sure yet who's going to wield them but I'm hoping they'll add some pop.

 

Anyone know how close the red on SG Starscream is to the red on Target Red Wing? I didn't get SG Starscream, but it might be cool to give Red Wing something to make him stand out a bit ...

Yep, I saw that. I had to go back and completely redesign mine, my biggest problem was I felt like the blaster was too long, I never thought about flipping the blaster around, and after I saw Larkin's, I figured it was best for me to start over. I couldn't tell from his video that it was FDM printed though, I could have sworn it was resin, which is the route I'm going. Since it is FDM, if anyone gets it I would be careful about snapping the barrel off, there's some pretty thin parts there. Still not sure if I want to go with purple or not though. The resin I'm using is an ABS-like, so it's pretty strong, and switching to purple would be a pretty big sacrifice of strength. The rough shape I have for mine is already pretty chunky, but I'm not sure I would want to take the risk.

 

Make a green one for SG Optimus and I'm in.

 

It's not a good comparison since the red on Red Wing is bare plastic while the red on SG Starscream is painted. Regardless, Red Wing's red is brighter. Of course, there's no white on Red Wing either.

Meh. I'd prefer some gap fillers that make the coalcart look like an actual coal cart.
I know there is a gap filler kit, but it still makes the cart look like some undefined thing.

I remember watching a youtube clip by a quite angry Brit or Scot who couldn't get the tailfin to stay stuck on Astrotrain. I hope they found the trick to it after they shot that vid. I really like that upgrade kit. The way it attaches feels a little bit like magic. It's really neat.

 

Those turrets are pretty fun! I dunno about putting them on Astrotrain, but hey, they could fit on plenty of figures. Where does the tail part go in the other modes? Is it only handheld in robot mode? (I'd guess not, as if its handheld it has a 5mm peg and in that case it can attach to lots of spots...) And where can it go in train mode?

And I was happy to discover that the whole rifle, peg and everything is solid black -- and doesn't appear to be painted, but is actual black plastic. I think? Also, the shield mount has a removable grip so it's reversible, which allows for making a much better shield. The handle, when removed, leaves a white area, but that is super easy to paint (even for someone as paint-averse as me) so I don't mind.

I'm surprised nobody has made better "monster hands" for Fangry -- the ones he comes with are way too much like normal hands. They're easy to replace, you can just pop them off. I'd love to have better, more monstrous claws for his altmode.

 

Is there a set of replacement hands for MMC's Kultur? Pointy fingers?

 

Oh that would be neat as hell but there would also need to be an energon cube version with tons of tiny little energon cubes.

Other toys is exactly what I had in mind (looking at you The Ark).

The rear tail gap filler does indeed have a 5mm post on the bottom of it so, you can plug it into any 5mm port as long as there isn't a parts clash (it's a hollow piece but, the left side, right side, and back side all extend down further than the 5mm post). Hands will be the easiest (these are in promo shots elsewhere) and then arms but, the arms will depend on if the 5mm port location allows the piece to "cup" around the shoulder. Folding/hinged panels would alleviate any parts clashing on pretty much anything but, it serves the primary function as is.

However, it can't really be stored anywhere on Siege Astrotrain in the locomotive mode unless you take the weapons out of the cart and toss it in there. The only reason for that is because it's a little bit too wide if you leave it in place. The wings will clash with the rear wing gap filler and that will prevent the wings from folding all the way into place as well as the wheel sections attached to them. That's really unfortunate because, it's so close to only needing to partsform for robot mode only. It's possible that fitment issue is strictly because of the 5mm ports on the sides of the rear tail gap filler because the lowest sections of the side sit flush with the purple plastic on the core of the locomotive/spaceship. I don't think the greeble/details would be a hindrance since there is space between that purple plastic and the wings. I might sand off the areas of the 5mm ports that stick out and attempt to fill them in because, I would rather leave it in place for both alt modes than have 2 extra 5mm ports in spaceship mode.

You just got a set that was overpainted. Normally, the handles are spared to avoid scuffing when inserted into ports. None of the Chinese 3d printed groups print in black plastic except for the nylon with poor surface finishes.

That's what I do. Pretty satisfied with that solution.

 

I noticed that but, the turret + rear tail gap filler set is the same price I paid for the rear tail gap filler and the set that has the weapon is only $5 more hence me being a great big pile of:
