Update for those curious. Found one Slag (Slug) and Grindor at Walmart in San Angelo, Texas. (West Texas). If they're here, then they will probably be everywhere shortly.

Anyone's Slug have QC issues? One of the horns on my copy keeps falling out (dab of glue should fix it) and the "wings" that become his stomach sides in dino mode keep popping off when transforming him.

 

No QC problems on mine. I love this mold. My only worry was that it would have a boring transformation but it's actually a very fun process. Very impressed.

Slug is so chunky and a hefty figure. I cannot wait for the rest to show up!

 

Slag was absolutely the most boring (and clunkiest) of the G1 Dinos, so it would be easy to make that assumption about the new version. But they've introduced a number of surprising tricks in his new incarnation.

 

I've had one horn pop out, once, doesn't seem like it will be a consistent so far. Had one his knee ratchets break almost immediately though. Knee still holds fine so not overly concerned.

My Amazon Slag showed up.

First impression: His robot mode is impressively large. Grimlock is just as big, but it seems less unusual for him.

One of his knee ratchets immediately broke. Not overly concerned as the joint is still plenty tight and functional, was just a bit of a disappointment. I'd heard of several people having this problem with Grimlock, but hadn't noticed any reports of it with Slag.

He is good, but a bit of a let down after Grimlock. Grimlock looks excellent and accurate in both modes, has a transformation that is more or less G1 accurate, and that is fast and fun with 0 fiddle.

Slag has the looks in both mode, but his transformation leaves a bit to be desired, I find the tabs on the side of the tail extension and the wing tabs a bit fiddly. It's just not as smooth and satisfying as Grimlock.

The back legs are a bit dinky looking as well.

 

Dang that sucks. Paying $50 for it to break immediately.

 

One of the shoulder pieces that form the ...fin in beast mode snapped off due to how there's little clearance for everything during transformation. It still holds if I apply pressure and leave it alone. Really irritating.
