Can you post an updated pic when you get those in? I'm a sucker for the G1 toy design. Seeing your other pic almost made me want to abandon the FT versions.

 

No trailer yet, but Youth Gravestone arrived. Alt mode is very similar to the original (a little bit of silver on the moulded details and a bit more grey on the rear is all I have really noticed so far), but bot mode is pretty decent. May repaint his face a bit of a softer purple though.

 

Lookie what just arrived! I won't have time to attempt the transformation for a while, but here's some in-hand photos for y'all. Shipped from ShowZStore on September 23rd.

 

Mine arrived on Monday night, but I haven't had time to do anything but unpack it yet. Hoping to transform it soon.

One issue on my copy: my screaming Menasor face has a huge mispaint problem on one eye, so I'll have to wait for a replacement on that.

There are 2 things I'm curious to discover:

1) Are there any significant changes from the standard trailer (especially any differences that affect transformation)?

2) Did XTB fix the issue with the knees/legs held on only by single weak screws, or did they just pump out an identical piece with different paint apps?

 

Come on guys. MOAR pics! Need the original toy chest attached too! Need to see of they lightened the silver on the thighs and abs!

Is the paint actually missing from the eye, or is there some weird plastic flash on the face? You could try removing the red part with the eyes to see if it's flash on the face - if so you could easily remove it with an exacto knife or something similarly sharp.

The thighs and abs match the colour of Youth Gravestone, not silver but more of a light gunmetal, still much better contrast to the blacks compared to the promo shots XTB showed

The mini car is simple but has a bit more going on than I first expected. For combined mode the wheels and lower side skirts fold in, two latches fold out and the roof compresses down:

 

How's the transformation?

 

Same as the toon version (read into that as you will  ). It's long, no two ways around it, but having done it on the toon version and with the guide on youtube to help it didn't feel AS bad this time.

It does feel like some areas are a little bit tighter and sturdier as far as joints and balance goes, but that might just be as it's newer. All the screws, pins etc. are the same including the dodgy knee/shin connections which I immediately checked and tightened to be safe.

Also they did fix the colour matching of the arms and car shells to match Youth Dragstrip and Dead End from the promo pics.

 

It looks really nice!

 

While you're waiting for a replacement, get a red Sharpie and color in the eye over the silver. I've done that with MANY X Transbot figures (like Cyclonus). Going over the silver makes it come through the red and look just like the metallic eyes would be painted.

 

Has anyone made adaptors to mount the leg bots right side up? I don't like it with the underside of the bot body up and the car is upside down.

Well, what do you know... it WAS flash. I didn't look closely, I assumed this was just silver paint with transparent red over it. Thanks for the tip!

I gotta give it to them, XTB knows how to make a figure look fantastic! That toy menasor is sick!!!

 

Now onto the reason I am posting here tonight. I have the toon overheat with bad shoulders. two of them actually, and both are developing cracks. I was pretty harsh towards XTB a few days ago on here because I was so upset over the issue and no fix other than replacement parts that have air bubbles in them.

BUT, last night I emailed XTB and within the hour I got a reply. I inquired about getting complete arms from the G2(black plastic) overheat for both my bots. I offered to pay for the parts if needed. Well to keep it short, with a few emails back and forth and me sending pictures of my damaged figures I have 2 complete sets of arms being shipped to me for a total of $7. I assume I paid to ship them.

It's not a perfect solution but I'm hoping the black plastic will hold together better than the yellow does. I know not as many of the G2's sold, and that could be why there aren't many reports of issues with those. But I know the yellow replacements will crack again.

I gotta give them credit, that is the fastest service after sales I have ever received! I can deal with some black parts on my figures, no it won't be toon accurate but it's better than an armless dragstrip(2 dragstips).

you might even be able to, depending on skill and 'wanna", take the yellow parts for the forearms and swap them over onto the black arms so at least the side panels for Menasor are the right color. looking at it again it might be just as easy, if you wanted the colors to match, is swap the entire lower arm from the elbow down. unscrew it at the upper arm swivel, carefully pry the two halves apart while sliding it on the upper elbow pin, get enough room to get the head of the mushroom peg through the hole and do the same to put it back together. the shoulder and upper arms would be the better black plastic but you don't lose any of the color for the alt mode on the lower arms. might be more work than the reward though.
