Depends in what kind of quality of life you're looking at. Get shot in the thigh you might bleed out quickly which is a horrifying death. Shot in the head? Death is typically instaneous. Shock and immediate trauma to the brain. Lights out!

Shot in the leg? Bleed out and die horribly. Or get your leg amputated depending on caliber and type of wound. Never walk well again at best.

    ....Damn. Got a bit gory.

Only 4 days left and tier 1 isn’t even unlocked. I’m kinda surprised?

I thought this would take off like a rocket once it was funded.

I'm personally convinced that Tier 1 and maybe Tier 2 are already "stealth unlocked", in that when you factor in the affiliate orders, we're already there. It's just that the HasLab counter hasn't crossed that point quite yet.

I say this, because they tend not to announce the stretch goals well in advance. They want you to dwell on how cool the project is going to be, and not be disappointed by what was ultimately cut. So the fact that they've revealed Tier 3 seems to signify to me that we're already a significant amount of the way there.

We're less than 750 units away from crossing that first barrier on Pulse orders alone, anyways. There's almost zero chance that we don't hit that by the end of Sunday, when orders officially close.

I'm not making anyone justify anything. I'm asking for opinions and sharing mine in exchange. I'm not "white knighting" for anyone either. Excessive prices are a concern that many have so it's pertinent feedback to these product releases. Lastly, I promise you, I don't see myself as a victim of anything. I am, however, calling you out for having a shitty attitude and coming after people for having the audacity to discuss things in a discussion forum.
    T'was a joke, sir.

For anyone who lives in Australia, are there other ways to back get Victory Saber other than EB games?

I too have the MP with the upgrades and Simba. My rationale for backing is:
    -I'm a Star Saber fan;
    -I can display this and the MP in different modes;
-I think backing it might help in getting more Victory characters in the future.
If none of the above applies to you and you are already satisfied with the MP, then saving money might be the best choice.

The interview with Yuki was nice. We already had a good idea how big these figures are going to be thanks to the work of posters here, but seeing them next to the MP helps getting a better idea. I found it fun that when mentioning the size of the figures Yuki referred to the old Prime Wars Trilogy scale.

The combined mode is better proportioned in this guy. It should also be more fun and quick to play with.

Other than those reasons, MP + Simba are still the upper hand.

    Well, there's Zing!

(for the non-Australians out there, the joke here is that Zing and EB are effectively the same business, just with different logos on the shop front. We even get them side-by-side in the same commercial space, demarcated by different coloured flooring).

There are no other options within Australia. You might try one of the Asian retailers who are offering it. Some of them are reported to be giving a better price (I presume they are buying direct from Hasbro, and do not have to pay the Australia Tax, where Hasbro Aus buys from Hasbro US and has to increase the price to us to make a profit, because Hasbro US does not sell at cost to Hasbro Aus and very much makes a profit from the sale), and may come in for less even with postage.

For example, The Falcon's Hangar has it for SGD $290 (our dollars very close in value), as opposed to EB/Zing's AUD $370. However, you will have to pay the whole lot right now, and hope that postage in 18 months won't eat the difference (and that there even is postage at that point :)  )

I've got the MP and KFC Simba, and I'm of the mind that that set is so heavy and ungainly that it's really not all that fun to play with much. Plus the connector mechanisms KFC devised are really cludgy, and don't have a really satisfying connection to Star Saber.

I think the HasLab version's going to be a helluva lot more fun to tinker with, while the MP Victory Saber is a better display piece.

Yeah. It reminds me a bit of Fans Hobby's Power Baser. The small robot is really nice. The "Super Ginrai" mode is really nice. Their Godbomber is quite cool. And the combined God Ginrai figure looks good but at that size it doesn't really become a figure you can mess with so much as a figure you put on the shelf and think "he looks cool". A similar thing happens with a lot of combiners. It's not that you can't have big toys that you can fiddle with easily. But when you're combining figures above a certain size, you just start hitting physical limits in terms of how stiff and secure everything needs to be. I've always found Unite Warriors Devestator about as big and heavy as you can go with a combining figure before you start to run in to issues like that.

It does mean I'm in the same boat... I really, really like MP Star Saber, and I've got Simba, but I've never felt any real urge to actually combine them because the figure just becomes too unweildy. So I'm actually pleased that this version is a bit smaller. Also it's nice that he can actually hold his sword with the blade facing the correct way. That way always my biggest peave with the MP (and yeah, I know you can use the small hilt or get an adapter, but it was still a baffling decision.)

I remember first feeling that with God Fire Convoy back in the day. (Omega Prime)
Loved him, but he was just a tad too unwieldy. Not that he was too heavy exactly, but his limbs became so bulky that he couldn’t support his own weight in poses, or strike many poses to begin with.
So, yeah, I’d sit him on top of my dresser and just admire him for a sec, much like you just described.

One thing I feel TF designers have gotten real solid at in the 20 years since is striking a balance between playability, construction, and aesthetics.
Victory Saber seems a fine example of all of this, by the looks of him.
(Man, I hope there’s no major QC issues. Lol)

Robotkingdom has it for ~180 usd which is 250+ aud before shipping. I don't think shipping going is going to be over 100 though it's hard to say given that shipping rates have been fluctuating like crazy since covid,

Oh yeah, God Fire Convoy is definitely the first TF I had where I thought "this looks absolutely gorgeos, but maybe it's just a bit too big for its own good".

It all comes down to what you like. I've not got one but I'm assuming that part of the reason for the "Pants-former" 3P combiners is that it helps makes everything a lot more stable. I went with MMC's Bruticus because I thought it was just the right size to still be fun (prior to that my favourite 3P combiner had been FansToys Computron).

I'm kinda curious how they're going to deal with this problem with the MP Raiden. But that's a different thread.

It occurs to me that Hasbro sitting on a pile of 3rd party and Takara backers not currently added to the total is a bad strategy if the goal is to surpass the stretch goal tiers with momentum at the end.

Unless they know that those numbers currently will absolutely blitz past the final stretch goal......

Maybe this is off topic a little but I thought since we got black roritchi then black zarak and now this, what other Japanese characters do you guys want them to do?
Secondly, in the scale wars discussion, am I the only one clamoring for the headmasters to be redone as voyager scale instead of the too small deluxe scale from Titans return?

I've actually never had that much trouble with God Fire Convoy, but his weight distribution is definitely a bit whack, especially with his hollow little feet that offer very little surface grip to boot.

Although I've never bothered to put batteries in the toys, either. And with the battery boxes both hanging off his back, that might add a bunch of iffy weight to the whole deal.

For years I thought about MP SS, but the lack of a Victory Leo was always the deal breaker. This Haslab version has all the required modes (and is appx 700 backers away from the gun to complete toy -accuracy) as well as playability. The only price issue I have is I cannot afford a 2nd to resell later. :D
