I don't mind G1 Megatron colors. Maybe I'm less tired of Megatrons in general, but I'm also more down with Megatron getting much weirder. I didn't crack on the prime toy until they made it Son Wukong.

I don't know a thing about the Dominator, so I don't know if it had so many alt variations, but it works for a Megatron that doesn't need sixers.

 

Eh, that's what 3P does. You can't be making that point without also pointing out all the other designs other artist made for TFs. For example the T-Beast series that actually made the artists to stop making more TF fanarts. And I don't think Don get paid for even official Hastak toys made based of his designs? I'd assume that his contract would only pay him for his works on the comics/illustrations and toys being a separate thing.

 

even Hasbro did it to him, let alone 3P.

The first repaint should be. TFC did the same thing with Optimus Prime being initially released in G1 colors.

Was there a three cockpit version of the Dominator (an ultimate dominator, so to speak) or was this original to make the robot mode and such work?

Naw, the Dominator only ever had the two cockpits. The Mamba had three, but that's because the other two cockpits turned into separate jet attack pods. But yeah, I'm pretty sure they just did the three cockpit thing for symmetry in bot mode.

 

Forgive me. What I mean to say is that considering the subject matter of this figure, it is reasonable to think that most people who would be willing to drop the $ on this, want the Dominator colours. Case in point part of the reason why I forgot or did not consider the possibility of the first release being G1 colours is because whenever the STC01 comes up you almost never see anyone talking about the G1 colour variant. As far as I can gather most people seem to agree that the gi joe style camo variants is where it's at.
I have no issue with people wanting G1 colours but if you put the cards on the table I'm sure we'll find that in this instance, G1 is uniquely enough NOT the colour variant of choice for most. I could be wrong but I'm reasonably sure I'm not.

 

My interest in this line has never had anything to do with G.I.Joe. I've always been interested in its compatibility with Diaclone Reboot. For that, the colours here are fine. If I like the mould, then I'll probably be down for any recolours as well. I don't think we can presume to say what 'most people' would or wouldn't want. However, I will say this: I've seen posts on these forums in the relevant threads asking when the Prime-coloured version would be reissued.

 

Dominator also never had a "Tank" mode, but here we are.  

 

yeah I noticed that, but "armored slab" doesn't have the same ring to it. I do love the blades forming a tank barrel. Very energy weapon.

 

Bet they could make a gorgeous deco in red, black and gold.

 

That's the thing a lot of us have the red/blue G1 deco Prime which came out first before the camo versions so if anything we've been waiting longer for a G1 deco Megatron to pair him with.

 

I'm in the camp that wanted a g1 colored version to go with my red/blue version of st commander. But I can see how a different color scheme would have been more appealing.

I think a grey/dark grey camo version would have satisfied both camps.

 

No worries everyone. We’ll all get what colors we want. If they made the weird orange version of prime, they’ll do anything
