Hmmm, so the option appears to be there to display him in robot mode with the tail on the outside of his lower legs for more comic accuracy. Now I'm wondering exactly what cosmetic differences the MTMTE version will have.

Be nice if PX retooled one of their FOC Seekers to give us a Misfire to ride on Grimmy too.

 

Now looking at the mtmte/Lost light comics the only cosmetic needed honestly would be the new chest design, the black piece behind head so many people wish they kept red should be gold, new shins and a new head with the visor. Which I feel could be all done in an upgrade kit easily.

 

Was MTMTE version officially confirmed somewhere?

 

Looks even better than it did before again wish the back piece wasn't black and was still red but I'm getting more and more use to it. Also I am one of those people who not a bit fan of metallic versions of figures/PX metallic figs. but I really like the way the gunmetal silver.

Someone asked them on FB messenger about the price increase and the possibility of a MTMTE upgrade kit and they replied back that appperently their doing a MTMTE version as a new figure. Which I would not be suprised if we see at TFcon in a couple weeks (and hoping for a reveal of another IDW Dynobot)

Mainly just new chest, head with a visor, new shin pieces.

And maybe a repainted gold sword.

 

I really wish there was an optional kit instead of an entirely new figure, I want to be able to go back and forth like MMC’s Megatron

 

Really cool they included new hands and painted the eyes away from the orange glow look

Really don't mind the price hike now. Metallic paint and LED eyes look fantastic!

So this seems ALL painted on the silver / gold pieces... NOW they got my attention again. Damn, i kinda want this alot now.

 

Amazing just how much paint can improve a figure from MMC swirl to refine shine on the silver and gold.


Kind of wish they'd show off the new painted version with the red hands as well.

 

The transformation looks a tiny bit more complex than most MP style Grimlocks I've seen, but also familiar enough that it shouldn't be much of an issue. I think that's what's so great about the Dinobots. The original transformation leaves a good enough foundation that you don't have to do any drastic changes to make it work. This T.rex mode is just a more modern T.rex, but the old style transformation still works. Also, the alt-mode is well articulated as well.

 

This looks so much better with metallic paint and black hands.

I might actually get this now...

 

Don't know about anyone else, but seeing the scaling on this guy, I can't decide if I want him to hang out more with my Cang Toys Predacons, or my FH Monsterbots. Just me?

 

Moneterbots would actually be kind of appropriate for an IDW Grimlock.

Really does and that comes from someone who isn't a big metallic finish figures kind of guy he looks great. God could you imagine how great the others would look around him in Robot and Dino mode.

Man I love it when a animal bot has good articulation in animal mode (cause that animal and character would need that) especially in the tail articulated tails for some reason are something I love (cause that animal and character would need that). Also no matter how updated the dino mode is as long as the figure is designed around his G1 counterpart that transformation will always work.

Especially for that story (Maximum Dinobots). I'm pretty sure that their big spotlight in turns of appearances anywhere also the FH Monster bots might scale decently with him.

 

I'd be okay with just a new head with the visor. The head is what's not working on this for me.

 

They kind of have to make a new head since the MD and MTMTE designs aren't the head design.

 

I hope they release a prime color deco of this. There was a trex prime figure recently and with this robot head looking like prime, the robot chest could be clear blue to a homage to the matrix

 

Man, I have fallen so out of love with this thing with all the color changes PX has done. I with I had preordered with BBTS instead of the Chosen Prime so I could cancel my order. I just have to hope I like it in hand, but I have this feeling that this might be one of my only 3rd Party regrets.
