Maybe they'll also campaign for a claus to let them sue the hell out of big-time actors that publically berate them on set. I imagine there's a few that would still like to kick Christian Bale's ass in the middle of an dark alley.
Seriously though, better benifits, shorter work days which may open the possibility of having different shifts creating more jobs, good luck to them.

Hollywood’s backstage union workers voted to authorize an industrywide strike.

IATSE Authorizes Strike — Here’s What That Means | IndieWire

Well things are gonna be delayed again......

“In the short run it would shut everything down,” Glenn Williamson, a producer and former studio executive who teaches at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, told The Washington Post last week. “The people in the guilds — they’re the lifeblood of a production.”

If you ever worked back to back to back to back 16 hour days with no weekends on less than 24 hours notice where you spent a lions share of that time on your feet watching quietly as Taika Watiti did the least funny riffing known to man you too would understand.

The problem is almost entirely scheduling related. Do you pay Michael B Jordan his rate for 2 days or do you just do it all in one 16 hour marathon session and pay the grips their negligible overtime? To a bean counter, that’s an easy choice, but it’s created some hellish working conditions and something somewhere along the line has to give. And no, it’s not a matter of more money.

But the reactions on Twitter have been hilarious. “I LOVE my slop! But don’t you DARE tell me how my slop gets made. The slop makers are my enemy. If they weren’t willing to die for my slop they shouldn’t have become slop makers”

Don't forget putting up with stuff like this. I've heard just about every defense for Bale over the years for this too.

I’ve been in both the position of being a director getting chewed out by a producer in front of my cast and crew and in the position of being a crew member while we got chewed out.

Of course I’m a big guy who can advocate for myself. You can either lower your voice or we can go outside. You wouldn’t speak to me like this if you saw me in the street and you’re not going to do it at my job just because you “outrank” me.

The real problem with this kind of garbage though is that it destroys morale. The time it takes trying to get everybody’s energy back after an episode like this just eats through a day.

To be completely fair though, it is a little more understandable with actors. You’re asking them to be very vulnerable and take big swings that might not pay off in front of dozens of people, and even little things can be very frustrating when you’re in that mindset. A blown take when you’ve really hit a stride can hurt.

Also the guy he’s talking to here is the DP, so not really an underling, and wandering around with a light meter during a live take is something he definitely knew better than to be doing at that point in his career and I think that’s why he takes it pretty calmly.

Still totally unacceptable. He was wrong to do it and right to apologize

IATSE Avoids Nationwide Strike, But Negotiations Are Tenuous | Playbill
IATSE Deal Could Be Rejected: 'Our Leadership Let Us Down' - Variety
Huge opposition from television and movie workers as union calls off strike and pushes sellout deal

The workers haven't voted to approve the deal, and many of them still aren't happy and are still talking strike. If they vote to reject it, it's could start all over again.
