PerspectiveEnd said the cgi from TF1 didn't hold up at all. I don't know how anyone can have such an objectively wrong opinion

The shot of Starscream landing on the ground at 4:58 is sublime. And there's something about those squeaky missile sounds that I actually really like. Makes it feel more alien.

These movies are such an audiovisual treat.

it felt so much more real for some reason. like you actually see them have actual weight to their movements, the next movies kinda made them too nimble.

You know, I think a lot of the realism has to do with the setpieces and scenes that the Transformers take place in. A lot of the scenes in the first film feel like locations you could actually find Transformers in as opposed to the grandiose settings in later films like Egypt, China, and Stonehenge.

100% agree, they designed the entire movie around making the robots as believeable as possible and that doesn't simply include the CG work itself. It includes the locations and how those sets were lit, the camerawork, the level of physical effects / debris / etc. used... all of that stuff contributes to the overall feeling of realism.

I think "sloppy" is too negative a word to use for the sequels' effects since they were still very good and a ton of work still went into it, but it just seemed like a bit less attention was paid to some of the other factors that contribute to the feeling of realism. There are a lot of moments in all of the sequels where the weight of the Transformers doesn't feel properly conveyed, which was a big factor in making the robots feel real. And, when they're in a city-like location, there's a ton of light sources to bounce off the robots, in Egypt you really just have the desert sun.

Ive always loved this shot. Something about the way the camera stays focused on Jazz as this gigantic Decepticon suddenly rises up under him is just supremely cool to me. 5735563-9618643629-ezgif.gif

It's such a callback to the 1986 movie

All the shots, of the Ding Dong darlin, in the 2007 film. I also enjoy Barricade's visual design, and the far off shot of Bumblebee standing tall after his fight with Barricade.

I love the shot of Quintessa, at the very end of The Last Knight, in which she does the honour of using sex aristocracy to announce Unicron, a toy

This scene comes from the documentary "Industrial Light and Magic: Creating the Impossible", you can watch the Transformers part of this documentary here.

Sorry, I didn't find any publicly released version of Bonecrusher transformation scene, you can see some unclear clips of robots transformation taken with camera in following two videos which recorded at Siggraph 2007 in San Diego, CA.

I think, if someone considers a shot of two male dogs humping a "breathtaking shot", I would tread carefully - really carefully - around them.

Only Michael Bay could give dogs humping each other the reverence it deserves.

This is so fucking cool, thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I like this shot, since it pretty much sets up the third movie.

Still images? Probably the shot of barricade looming over Sam yelling at him while he’s on the hood of a car. Clips? The entire Devastator combination scene.
