I’ll take a $20 bet against anyone that thinks we don’t hit 20K when this thing is all done. It’s going explode at the end. o_O

I'm cautiously hopeful about reaching tier 3. I think tier 2 is likely, but tier 3 less so.

Boy, I hope some reseller pushed up a dump of backers soon as this number seems to have stalled in the 72 hours in the mid 12,000.

Personally, I love the idea of these figures being released. The price for HasLab will always be higher than traditional releases due to the cost to produce the figure and the scale of production. For me, I have been seriously collecting Transformers since 2000. I had a childhood collection before that. Victory Saber was always one of those figures that was just a little too expensive for me. With the influx of bootlegs for high value figures in the mid-2000's it turned me off from even attempting to collect any of the straight Japanese series for me. Now at 2021, I'm being offered a newly designed Victory Saber/Leo and it is less that 200.00. It is a no-brainer for me.

I'm expecting the box to be similar to what we have seen with the previous HasLab content.

First of all, it's my wife's money ...

I'm not worried about tiers, particularly, but I'm not backing a second until we're definitely getting the flight stand - having one for the big display is one thing and doesn't need a flight stand, but getting a second and not having a bomb ass place to put it in alt-mode just doesn't work for me.

Star Saber desperately needs thigh extensions. He just looks so squat.

Extending his thighs is going to make Victory Saber's Legs look super weird.

All HasLab's go through this. Galactus stalled for a while before blasting off in the final four days.

It's funded, which is all that matters in the longview.

The OG G1 yup. So squat but if you do thigh extensions here and and VLeo, it'd look mighty dang uglee beanpole type.:yuck

The lengths are just right for the VSaber form.

Oh i'm aware it's done in the service of Victory Saber - I just don't agree with it. Star Saber is already pushing aesthetic limits with how short his thighs are compared to his massive shins, and the Victory platform shoes only make it look way worse. I'm just saying that third parties have some easy money to make from people that want to display Star Saber on his own.

    Yea definitely

Combined mode reasons, plus he was usually always like that. He was weirdly always stumpy or lanky due to the nature of his design

In the grand scheme of budget - the cost for an artist to create kickass box art and a production designer to lay it out and whatever graphics are need out on the box is a drop in the bucket when it comes to the overall cost to develop something like this. Plus thats the sort of thing I do for a living so I'm the kind of customer that values great packaging design and would find it immensely disappointing if the box was literally just a plain brown box.

You're assuming an awful lot about the margins on this particular project.

I wouldn't. Mostly because the precedent was already set with Unicron.

Unicron was the exception, not the rule. Razor Crest and Sentinel both had more stylized boxes. Unicron's box was so spartan because of how expensive the toy was to begin with. Victory Saber is the cheapest HasLab and has a lot more room to afford a more fanciful package

I'd say far from stalled. The past 3 days it's gone up by 293, 193, and 135 respectively, which is over a hundred more than actual dry spells when we got the lowest of 28 backers in 24 hours, and a whole week where we didn't get more than 60 per day

Pays them a decent price to make the art, 1,000 to 2,000, and yes high end but still, and follows that with 1 dollar a box at 25,000 for an estimate of backers, I say in the grand scheme isn't that expensive to a nearly 5 million dollar profit in the end

I get the MIB crowd, but the only reason to really hold onto the box is if you plan to sell it. No judgement. It's going to have some re-sale value as other HasLab items have. How much depends on the aftermarket and how flooded with product it is and what people are willing to spend on it. If you think you are going to be one of a handful doing this then you might want to go back through the last 459 pages and see everyone else doing the same thing and I would double that number for the people not saying anything on the board but reading it. Then you have TFsource or other resellers, which has notably been "finding extra items" mysteriously and putting it up for sale or a second preorder after selling out, at higher mark-ups.
As far as what the box looks like, I know what the packaging looks like for Selects figures and not holding my breath it will be something else.

I keep the boxes because I think they look neat. No other reason. Just cause. The WFC commander class boxes are front and center cause of the art. They're stuffed in my closet, but as I said I think they look neat

For higher end items, I find they make storage way easier. Trying to keep track of all the extra pieces of some items AND store the item safely vs being jammed in a box with a dozen other items is fine for retail mainline toys but anything a little fancier (from mid tier imports like figures on up to things like high end items like hot toys and statues) I prefer to keep the box.

I'm lucky enough to have a huge amount of space in my garage ceiling, a loft. I keep all my old boxes here for resale, even if I'm not planning to ever resell it.

A couple months ago, I scored a huge loose lot with plenty of stuff I already owned; I was able to use my boxes to resell these items so that after I sold off the unneeded parts of the lot, I got the parts I wanted really cheap (like 100 bucks for TR Overlord, ER Thrust, Siege Jetfire, and POTP Evolutions Prime). I never planned on reselling any of my copies, but it ended up worth it that I kept this packaging.

I really hope this hits 20k to get all of the tier unlock stuff. I bought the max (5) to help push it higher, plus I can unload the extras for 2x-3x the purchase price when it releases.
