So I’m thinking of buying my first Diaclone figures. I was planning on starting with the Gridman crossover figure because I’m a huge Gridman fan, but I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions for a figure that would give me the full experience of the line in one box. Or, if I should just save up and get Battle Convoy before he gets any more expensive.

On the topic of him. Does the Shadow Convoy not include the trailer?

Battle Convoy is a great, and elaborate, starting point.
And Shadow Convoy doesn't have a trailer.

    Cool, thanks!

Unfortunately i can't pay online, otherwise it would've been easier... I have to go to the local toy shop to find a base of some sort

    Thank you.

If you don’t mind me questioning further… I’m guess ebay is my only option now for Battle Convoy?

And is there a more definitive release date for Shadow Convoy? I don’t like pre-ordering things that are several $$$ without a set date I’ll be charged in mind.

I’d keep an eye on mandrake BBTS or TFSource may get some in eventually if you’re in the US (since shipping has been so clogged up.

Shadow Convoy should be shipping starting November I think? (US distribution has been lagging).

    I wish I could answer.
This is one of those lines where you really need to pre-order when the figures first go up or end up missing out or paying a premium later.

Shadow Convoy is still listed as fourth quarter. No date yet, but I'm guessing December.

If you go with Shadow Convoy keep your eyes open for the TakaraMall exclusive DA-88 (?) which color matches some accessories for him. It’s still unknown if the Powered Set will be color matched for Shadow eventually.

Although I don’t think you’d go wrong with shadow or v-max convoy, depending on your budget… I’d actually lean toward the D-Calibur Big Powered. Now that he’s been retooled for VERS Cores, the already most play-able set has even *more* compatibility with other items in the line.

V-Max Convoy (with the trailer) I think should shine best if you already had a sampling of Diaclone.

the full experience of the line in one box
Cheap and easy answer would be the Diabattles v2: it’s a bit long in the tooth but it’s is still widely available, relatively cheap and has combining and modular features unique to the line.

that’s true. It was first, and it’s held strong. I do hope we get a VERS compatible version soon that trades out the motorized head reveal with a core head. But we’ll see.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I was worried I would get responses telling me to not even bother with the line due to prices, aftermarket prices, and seemingly low production numbers. But the, even if just a few messages, really puts a smile on my face!
    Thanks.
Oh I’ve kept an eye on the line since it’s release from a distance. So I’m aware of it.
    Pics?

Also I know this may sound… rude. But to get a little extra money to put towards Diaclone, I’m selling/trading my UW Grand Galvatron. Link in the sig.

    Dude just google it.

I'm going to go against the grain and say that convoy is not going to be a good one to start with, especially if you're on a budget and won't be getting too many other releases for awhile to go with it. Sure he has compatibility with both post triverse and pre triverse releases, but that's not going to be relevant until you actually get a few of them. On his own, he doesn't really do all that much compared to something like dia-battles, big powered, buffalo or even just a couple of trivers and verse risers.

Dia-battles could be a good start, but the older ones did have some issues with the wings cracking and the antennae warping, while the newest one that fixed these issues is pretty pricy. I think the new big powered is probably going to be the best choice. It arguably has the most playability as a stand alone release that only goes up with each set that you get. Previous big powered releases have all gone up in price in the aftermarket, so it's probably best to preorder the newest one at rrp while you can.

Yep, I personally believe that Big Powered is the overall best set yet. And this new version will be even better.
    1) Big Powered
    2) Dia Battles V2
    3) V-Max Convoy

Why? We are just a bunch of chronic enablers… We only egg each other on to the next purchase… coz u are only crazy if u are the only one doing it…
