Oh yeah, I think that was obvious. I just wanted to offer the estimated height differences for the person who requested.

Hated the set when I got it at release. I hate it even more today when finally dusting of my airbrush after two years. . While getting ready to disassemble the figure, I broke the elbow by normally bending it. I have not touched the fucker in two years, other than to dust it, while not moving parts and it snaps like that.. I paint it up and while its not fully cured Im like lets put it back together., who cares. f it right. So i put it back together and stand him to cure for another two years and he falls off the desk knicking the paint on his his upper left chest and left arm. Not fixing it anytime soon... If i fix anything, I should just replace it with Kindom Huffer. If i do touch up the paint I will match the knees to the thighs. If he were a head shorter, Id probably get another one and do a full repaint

    Anyway heres guy painted finally.

Painted arms, guns, abs, upper legs and chest

These guys needed silver paint. I like him, but they did have some big flaws. It's like the job they did on him is only 90% of what they needed to do.

I did brawn too. The paint really helps them. I think i want to repaint them fully. the glossy diecast parts mixed with the matte and glossy plastic bother me. Just looking at huffer legs and seeing multiple yellows bothers me. thats me though.. all the loose pins on all of them bugged me the most.. made them easy to take apart though.. the exploding elbow was a first for me.. elbow was too tight.. fv and tolerance issues are a thing, among other things... I paid full retail at release for the set... well full chinese retail.. if I paid bottom run out prices like others, id probably let more things slide and would like them more. I wish brawn and huffer were a head shorter.. im okay with warpaths height.

I really like the heights on these guys but that's mostly because I mix and match them into both my MP and CHUG collections.

I added silver paint to both Brawn and Huffer, and it is a huge improvement over that original gray plastic. I've made some changes - helmet mod for Huffer, added some glue to secure Brawn's windows and front grill, modified his hips to swivel around so his legs are 'swapped' in robot mode (turns his pigeon-toed stance into a macho squat), sanded Brawn's shoulders a little so they collapse easier, and added added some scoring to Warpath's pins so they don't work their way out.

I haven't had any joint issues yet. Nothing seems stressed so maybe I got lucky.

I still think Huffer is the best, and a great figure overall. I appreciate what you mean about the 2-tone plastic/painted-metal effect on the legs, but it's not bad enough to bother me too much.

I thought Huffer was the best out of the 3 too. He seemed the best built of the three imo.

Sounds like you put in some work. I remember when these came out, I said they were worth half and ultimately thats what they sold for at the end, cheaper in some cases. If I paid those prices Id be more content with them and would accept the work needed. Not that these cost tons when they came out, I just felt they werent worth what I paid. I think I saw huffer on taobao for 100 cny now. Thats more than reasonable now. May have to throw one in for a new elbow If I do another order at some point.

If I could only shrink one it would be brawn. I can live with a taller huffer, but in my head Brawn just isnt that tall.

Do you have pics of brawns swapped legs?

I put in some work on these guys, but the only one I really begrudged for it was Brawn - he seemed to have the most problems related to build and engineering. I'm satisfied with him now.

The pin problem was a bit annoying, but scoring the pins on Warpath was barely work, and the other modifications I made were just my aesthetic touches. When I got mine, I think they cost as much as main line Hasbro voyagers (which is now what Deluxes cost after the recent the price hikes)... which felt like a steal to me! I like their style, so I was pretty happy with them.

I'm sure there were variations in the QC, but Huffer definitely felt like the best out of the box. Solid joints, and lots of articulation. Warpath is okay, but his design is a bit clunky - most of his appeal is due to his sheer diecast weight. That said, I prefer him to the Earthrise version. The transformation flows better and has a nice solidity.

Back in the 80s, I found it weird for Brawn to be so small, but over the years, I've come around to the idea that it's cool that he's incredibly strong despite being a little guy (in fact, between him, Huffer, Gears, and Warpath most of the strongest early Autobots were minibots). Anyway, FV Brawn hangs with my MP figures, while Warpath and Huffer tend to be shelved with my CHUGS. As long as Brawn is shorter than an MP car, I'm good with it. :)

I haven't taken pics of the swapped legs yet, but you can sort of imagine just looking at him. The "work" part of that mod requires cutting away the plastic wall on the outside of each thigh, just at the hip... which exposes the joint a bit more, but still looks ok. This is what enables each leg to rotate all the way around.

If you swap the legs and do that mod, his hip-section will still face forward in robot mode and transformation to vehicle mode is not affected.

Thanks, the paint was okay until he took a shelf dive. Would have polished the arms, but im like meh now.. went in today to mock up what Id do with another one if I get one.. i half assed it and so instead of a real sand job, prep, spray... I breezed through it... I can see finger prints from where I picked him up by the other arm now and the arm that was damaged isnt the same thickness after spraying. in the right light you can tell.. you can def see where it was damaged. its the arms are no longer smooth..

I decided to take apart all the yellow/orange parts and paint it one yellowish/orange color. i call it the autobot, not yellow.. simliar to fv brawn and Mp grapple. matched the knees to the thighs. the only thing not painted now are the face, and the darker blue around the crotch and chest and the plastic windows. dont know if im going to go in and detail anything or add accents.. just dusting off my painting skills.. been a couple of years since ive painted anything and even longer since i painted a TFer other than a part/touch up.

didnt fix the chest.. just cause

Did find out that the tyre on the leg is screwed in and its not a capped pin..

even though im half assing him.. I am letting him dry overnight and will varnish after work tomar.. then will wait another day to put back together.

Looks better now imo, def better in person. Still should have painted the eyes, accented the guns with that blue and polished the arms, but meh. While the diecast shins are still a lil more glossy than the plastic, matching the rest of the not autobot yellow just works better. the yellow/orange color might look similar to the original, because its close, just made it a tad bit darker. i guess i could have hit the diecast with satin and glossed out the plastic more to try and match it even more. Now i wish i would have fixed the chest. I think I might order another one eventually and redo it again, but as a stand in, with a broken elbow, it works if i dont touch it or decide not to get another to custom. painting the knees to match is the way to go too..

anyway here it is if any of you are thinking about painting yours. if fv would have colored it better they would have sold more of huffer at least

Looks good! Did you do @SMOG helmet mod as well? From the photo I'm not able to tell...
I finally got to repainting mine last week. The deeper blue is a little dark but I'm okay with that since he's a placeholder for the FT version.

I do like your dark blue man. I dont think its too dark. I actually like your blue more than my default blue color. Good Job. I wish mine was only a stand in. Its my huffer for better or worse. The paint really helps a lot. FV missed out on that.

Nah, I never messed with the helmet. I dont even know what the mod is. I kind of did a little paint on brawn, then a lil more paint on huffer, then finally basically did a full on warpath repaint.

Thanks man. Nice job on Warpath and Brawn seriously though the paint does make a big difference. I wish FV had used more paint apps on this set. I also like what you did with their weapons
