Does anyone have any theories about what happened to Octane after his appearance in Starscream's Ghost and Blitzwing after Five Faces of Darkness? Blitzwing was banished by Galvatron but didn't accept Rodimus' offer to join the Autobots. However, Octane did accept the offer of asylum and clearly had a good friendship with Sandstorm. But his fate after that episode was pretty ambiguous too. Octane later appeared (along with Blitzwing) in The Ultimate Weapon, but it's hard to draw any conclusions from this. TF wiki suggests that they were possibly just used as Decepticon crowd filler, which seems plausible. Where does an exiled Blitzwing go if he feels too awkward to join the other team? And how could Octane rejoin Galvatron's troops when his best buddy is an Autobot? Any thoughts?
It's all mostly due to the fact that Octane's appearances were originally Blitzwing's, but he was swapped out at the last second cause Hasbro was releasing Octane's toy and Springer was swapped out with Sandstorm. So the original intent of the cartoon was that Blitzwing would later retake Rodimus's offer of asylum, while Octane was always with the Decepticons.
Yeah, but a race between Sandstorm and Blitzwing at Autobot city would have been even more one sided- dune buggy vs tank. I think it makes sense that Octane would also have been banished after swiping Trypticon.
I've heard about Octane originally being Blitzwing, but this is the first time I've heard that Sandstorm was originally meant to be Springer.
Sandstorm makes more sense. He'd only recently joined up with the rest of the Autobots. Both he and Octane were newcomers. EDIT: According to TF Wiki it was an error in the dialogue script.
I just assume it'd be mercenary work. Swindle did it as a side gig I'm sure any Decepticon could offer their services to any despot and make a nice living.
On a personal note, I dislike how Octane just gets one feature episode and then joins the Autobots. I wish that Blitzwing not Octane were in the Starscream season 3 episodes and that Octane could have maybe joined Decepticons who had only made a few season 3 appearances, like the Stunticons, Constructicons, and coneheads and maybe you could have had another Decepticon civil war. To me, the Blitwing while in exile, maybe in a potential season 4 could have a run in with the Quintessons and the Quintessons maybe clone Blitzwing as per the screen shot in the link. File:OverchargeG1TitleSequence01.jpg - Transformers Wiki With Octane, I kind of think that at some point his behaviour is at odds with the Autobots, maybe he gets banished by the Autobots at some point, or maybe the Decepticons off-camera kidnap him again or maybe he just gets killed in battle, possibly in the hate plague.
Do you have a source for that second part of the swapping information? Because it’s the first time I hear it I’ve evrn seen a early draft of tge script with Blitswings bane still on it but nothing about Springer I never gave it much thought, betrayal and forgivenesses was pretty common place within the decepticons, I know it’s a shock but it’s true
I'd probably have Blitzwing eventually join the Autobots as past of an ongoing escalation of how unhinged Galvatron became, and Octane more of a free agent, probably making some sort of living around that neutral area he and Sandstorm talked at after just not wanting anything to do with the war on either side.
