Ah buggering knackers, I just picked up SS86 Jazz to transform him, and found the hairline crack running right up the windscreen. And there was me thinking I was one of the lucky ones.

This has left me somewhat less enthusiastic about the Jackpot I pre-ordered yesterday...  

 

Jackpot's actually broken in the same manner in the photos. Pointed out to me via Facebook.

 

This is how I felt! Hubcap was my first Transformer ever, and I never thought I'd see another one until Selects happened.

You do bring up a good point though - while I do have issues with how scarce some of the exclusives got, I think my bigger problem is with the character selection. While I'd love for every TF collector in the world to have a Hubcap (just like I did as a kid), I think it makes way more sense for someone like him to be an exclusive as opposed to someone like...earth mode Ironhide? Cybertron Skywarp? What? Less popular guys like Jackpot, sure, but why in god's name was earth-mode Prowl a limited store exclusive??

 

Every kid needs a toy of Hubcap, the bot you can't trust! I still don't understand how Bumblebee became everybody's favorite, & not Hubcap...

Yeah, making core characters exclusives is kind of dirty; luckily I tend to go for their repaints, but getting Netflix Soundwave was way more stressful than it should have been. I can't imagine what it was like for people trying to get a complete cartoon collection. I'm dreading when the rumored Walmart Cosmos hits stores, as he is my favorite G1 character, & I'm going to need copies for me & my kids. At least the Walmart Netflix deluxes were fairly plentiful in my neck of the woods.

 

Jackpot. An Action Master transformed through dubious means into an actual Transformer. Does this mean he’s softer, worser, slower, weaker, and less alive?

 

A starring role in a hit cartoon series probably helped Bumblebee's career along. Just a bit.

 

I hope for Terrorsaur.

Wow, too uncanny. I've been eying the Animated TFCon Jackpot for a while for my "Lost Light crew" CHUG collection, so this couldn't have come at a better time.

 

I was being sarcastic, since Hubcap didn't appear in any media. & his bio depicted him as a sleazy con artist that nobody trusted.

 

The countdown has started for Terrorsaur now.

 

Once again, hard disagree - new characters expand the boundaries of the franchise for the future. One of the things I will openly praise the current IDW books for is gleefully mishmoshing characters from different eras and universes. Yeah, yeah, Brawn and Ironhide and Prowl are there... but so are Headlock and Nautica and Demolishor and Vibes (VIBES, ffs!)

That? That I can get behind. Plus adding new characters like the Titans and Cyclonus's ghostly comrades and etc. just adds more to the merriment.

TF has stayed more or less fresh for nearly 40 years because it hasn't been afraid to transform the wheel. Same goes for TMNT - they reinvent the Turtles every so often for a new cohort of fans. MOTU is just now beginning to figure this strategy out at the same time that TF seems to be actively abandoning it.

I just wish Hasbro would work with IDW more on new characters so we don’t have tons of OCs without toys. The fiction is secondary. It killed me as a kid when I couldn’t have a Straxus or Scrounge toy. Or Jhiaxus when he came out in the G2 comics.
