I remember not liking it at the time but I think it’s a decent look for Prime now. i prefer Thunderclash. But considering the lack media around Machine Wars that would be a tough sell.

I actually like AoE leader Prime. He’s really not that bad IMHO if you in with the right expectations and there is some charm there.

Also, can ER Arcee be worse PRiD Arrichnea? Really?

 

Eh, it has some redeeming features, at least for its time.

Everything above the waist is genuinely good. It's still a killer headsculpt.

The alt-mode is great. And it was a time when we had pretty much given up on getting a tape deck Soundwave.

Laserbeak is great and incredibly losable.

... but yeah. Time hasn't been kind to it, though it's not like the other mainline Soundwave tape decks are exactly perfect (TR suffers from its gimmicks and size, Earthrise is a mass hallucination and doesn't actually exist, and Kingdom Core doesn't have minions) though they are all leagues ahead of this one.

 

If it's any consolation, I remember it being a khaki coloured and a basic size class. A lot of Bayverse blurs (tee hee hee) together since Megatron was really the only "same character new alt mode" each time the source/line changed (all the other same characters received new engineering/gimmicks) and there was a massive amount of filler.

 

100% agree. totally awful. but I'd also give him a partial pass for being in a subline with different goals. But hot damn who thought that was ok to go out the door???

I remember not liking Payload from the 2007 line when I was younger, but I think it was because I didn't know about the plunger gimmick until I got it. Maybe I'll get one again to bolster my Movie Con ranks.

Honestly though? Despite having a sizable collection, it's hard coming up with an answer here, as all of them have their merits.

SS86 Jazz? As much of a ticking time bomb that he is, the parts of the figure that aren't going to turn into translucent shrapnel in a year look great, and he definitely fits the part of a Jazz figure very well.

Helicopter Dropkick? Even if he's inaccurate, he's fun to fiddle around with, and I really like his weapons and alt mode.

SS ROTF Soundwave and PRID Airachnid? Even if they're not the best figures (even I can admit that), they're fun to mess around with if you're feeling bored.

Siege Springer, a personal pick of mine? Even if the figure itself is a chore to transform (same with SS Jolt), the resulting modes look fine, and the robot mode is really well done... I just find it way too overambitious for a Voyager class.

I don't like the DOTM Skids figure, but I think it's because mine is a QC lemon with one of the pieces constantly popping out.

I've ragged on Kingdom Cheetor before, but it's mainly due to the QC issues that plague him. Doing the neck fix improves him a lot, and I plan to fix Shadow Panther when I get him too.

Kingdom Rhinox may have a myriad of flaws (the transformation, the inaccurate look, the rather flat weapons), but he fills in being a Rhinox in my collection well, and on his own he looks really nice.

Overall... I'm just stumped trying to give an answer here. I'm trying to be fair here and choose from figures I've personally owned.

 

That FE AOE Optimus mold is actually a lot of fun, and is awesome in the Silver Knight deco. I think the actual AOE Leader is worse, with those stupid armor flaps just hanging off his shoulders:



At least the FE tries to get the kibble out of the way somewhat ...

I actually quite liked this guy. In my own personal non existent season5 this was omega supremes new body after becoming damaged.

 

By far the most denial I’ve ever seen from the fans. Nobody could believe the design.
