Apologies, maybe Alternate head would have been better. "None mainline toy head." I'm calling them mutants, but that's confusing as the originals were called mutant heads. Still, the robot head for Blackarachnia isn't her show head, so mutant enough for me!

 

They're two different figures, sharing no parts, just the transformation and visual cues by virtue of character design. I wouldn't judge one by the other.

 

Oh really? It's a completely different mold? Is the Shadow Panther(his name escapes me) and Tigertron molds the same as Cheetors?

 

I put in the pre-orders to hopefully secure my spots. I am looking them over at this point and debating if I want these. I grew up with G1 and got into beast wars but didn't get into the comics or anything after that. Might need to check out the comics now if I keep these.

 

Cheetor and Shadow Panther share a mold (except for the head). Tigatron and Mutant Tigatron share a different mold (except for the head).

 

I pray it will be terrorsaur tomorrow and they don't mislead us with a different character.

 

Shadow Panther is Cheetor's mold as is Covert Agent Ravage (partly), Tigatron is his own mold and shares it with Mutant Tigatron

So far, this toyline has showcased really vibrant repaints. The paint apps are inviting enough for me to get either this guy or Jackpot. 

 

Toy-wise, I like all of the reveals so far. Can't say I'm crazy about making Puffer and Tigatron altered versions of existing characters though. I would have greatly preferred they be someone new.

 

They can both be new characters if you want them to be new characters. They will be for me  

 

Although now for this color scheme it is BWSG Cheetor.

So like... this is Tigatron "severely mutated, aggressive, and savage", but this is Shadow Panther every day. Would it be like assuming someone is pregnant because of their size?

I wanted this to be Tigertron.

It would have been just the prototype Tigatron colors on the Masterpiece or new Kingdom Tigatron mold, but would have been characterised as a new toy of Go-Bots Tigertron, shown below. I have a slight interest in thinking of Go-Bots (not the 1980s GoBots) characters becoming actual Transformers, repainted from the Generations Transformers toys.

No reason he can't be. I repurpose figures all the time just to fill in spaces, especially if I have no connection to the line or character I'm "borrowing" the figure from.

 

I was happy to preorder this guy just because of how much I like Tigatron and how I love his original colors...but if he winds up being my only Tigatron to this point, so be it  

 

So, interestingly, there's an exceptionally rare color pattern of the Indo-China Tiger called a Blue Tiger. It is a melanistic color morph, like Black Panthers. It was first reported by the French in Indo-China in the late 1800s, and was last sighted by the Americans in the Vietnam war. Given how much absolute destruction was done to Vietnam, and the fact that the Indo-China Tiger is now extinct, it's an almost certainty that we'll never see one. But still, wouldn't it be neat if someone had a 150 year old tiger pelt in their home that was a ultra rare Blue Tiger?

I like how it looks, but I can't justify another tigatron in my collection. THe first being the regular Kingdom version. I'm at the point with my collection that one in equals one out. But to make my wife happy, I try to do a 20-30 figure purge twice a year. So I am going to sell Beast Wars Tigatron to get Kingdom Tigatron.

 

The original BW toyline made different characters with molds that had mutant heads (Tarantulas/Blackarachnia, Waspinator/Buzz Saw, etc.), so it’s not without precedent.
