Aw man, I remember that box for the SD Valkyrie. That was the funny thing I always wanted as a kid and ended up just wishing for one. Hahahaha. That is way too cool even if it is yellowed. My original Chunky 1A is yellowed but I wouldn't trade it for the world.
I have my OG Chunky VF-1J that's discolored a bit and bit busted. That is the first Macross toy I ever got as a present from my brother way back when. If I had to sell everything, that would be the only one I would keep no matter what.
Pretty wild that Luna Park actually posts directly in MW these days. But it looks like they’ll be shipping for real soon this week
Gah! This was such a fun set of armor to snap on to the VF-1J. I’ve been so excited for this set for a while now. It’s a shame that it has to be boxed up for a move.
I have never realized how the 1J looked with all the stickers applied till now. Only one I put the stickers on was my original 1A.
also bear in mind that mine is the BANDAI 2001 reissue, with the majority of markings tampoed on as clearly legible signage, as opposed to the unintelligible squiggles that made up the markings on the original TAKATOKU's label sheet...
Yeah, I have the 2001 version in the closet somewhere and never took a look at the stickers. Honestly I have a soft spot for the Takatoku/Bandai originals over the reissues, even with the fuzzy markings. Probably because back then you had to use more imagination and could make up whatever you wanted them to be.
Woohoo, my tracking from Luna Park has updated too! Can't believe I will have a DX VF-1J. I thought I was going to have to use my Yammie 1/48 (which is still awesome) as a permanent stand-in.
At this rate mine is gonna be the last one out of Luna Park’s warehouse, my tracking remains the same
If you guys are wondering, Amiami has gotten their stock in (according to a poster on MW), however they're on the slow side in getting the invoices out.
I spent some time working on replacement stickers for my old Takatoku VF-1J a while back and hit a roadblock with that part. I even looked at them through a microscope to try to make out what they might say…haha. I could actually make out some words here and there…but a lot of it just looks like fuzzy wiggles. I referred to more recent VF-1J releases for some inspiration as well…but it would actually be more authentic to stick with fuzzy wiggles, I guess. My brain locked up while arm wrestling with itself and I haven’t gotten back to it. The funny thing is that I probably wouldn’t apply the stickers anyway! I still haven’t put any of the stickers on my Arcadia VF-1J either, for that matter. It looks so bland the way it is, but I just can’t bring myself to do it.
Yeah, my Arcadias are left without any stickers on them. Odd since I usually apply stickers on my Lego sets, but left them off for some strange reason.
I never put stickers on my Macross toys. It might have something to do with them already being so good, they don’t need anything else. Less motivation to mess with the stickers compared to Lego or G1 Transformers and GI Joe. Plus, take two steps back and you won’t even notice it. In the rare occasions that I felt I needed to do something, I just made my own waterslides decals since they end up looking better, easier to apply and I can keep the original sticker sheet intact.
I've got the OCD when it comes to stickering up expensive stuff. I still love stickering G1 reissue TFs, though...and retro Joe vehicles.
Buy and build the Lego Space Shuttle. That thing will break your OCD (it broke mine and my soul). I still have Soundwave's G1 reissue stickers unused since I could never decide on going original toy look or the correct look with the batteries/speakers. Yeah, I tell myself that Miria's VF-1J is somewhat cartoon correct with no stickers on it. Even on the Super Packs. Not sure how well that works when I put her next to the Bandai Max, but it works when I'm just walking into the room.
