Finally about to transform my figure but I want to top coat the silver paint first so I don't damage. I've held off on transforming him all this time just for that reason. I have some Mr Hobby Super clear but have never used it. Do I need to mask tape the windows and eyes before spraying?

And do I need to remove screws or something? I seem to remember reading long ago of some screws needing to be removed for longevity.

If a 3p company can make that head, M09 would look soo much better. I have modded m09 as well as ss38's heads/eyes.

I got mine a few days ago and i've done some work on it. As long as your Mr hobby is a gloss coat you don't need to mask off anything. Just don't over do it and spray at least 20cm away from the part! I found even with topcoat it will still scratch because it seems like the people at the factory didn't even apply a primer before painting the parts, thats why it peels off the diecast so easily.

Ooooo pics please! Of both your m09 and ss38! I'll show you what i've done to mine too!

Yeah i agree, the slab of a chest can be overlooked but the head really stands out.

I just applied a simple coat of gloss used on my hardwood floor onto the diecast parts and haven't had any issues since.

Shieeeet, i creamed my pants. I love what you did to the brows. Did you resculpt around the eyes as well?

I ended up resculpting my m09's mask and making the eyes on mine smaller inspired by your work.

I'm not the best at sculpting but here it is
I'm not digging the pupils on mine so i might just go over it again with meta blue

How are you guys sculpting these to begin with? What are you using? Just regular clay?

I used this! It's really easy to use and dries overnight so you can pretty much start sanding and cutting on it the next day

Thanks! @NemesisJazz really inspired me to do mine!

Awesome! Love what you did to the faceplate too! Dont forget to add the "eyebrows"! I think the eyebrows really complete the look.

What did you use for the eyebrows? I might do some work later on

Fire Scorpion still going strong. ;)  I love it. Hopefully one day I can afford a 3d scanner and figure out this 3d printing thing...print up a face plate we can just apply over the old.

Anyone have one of these M09 copies they would be willing to part with?

I have a used one with everything intact that I will let go for $80 shipped if M09 is Fire Scorpion (I am too lazy to check right now). Be forewarned though, this figure is notorious for having weak limbs that can't even hold up his weapons. I will post pictures later.

Yeah, it's really strange. The joints themselves actually feel really solid too. It's the shoulder that's a little weak, but even then it feels good to handle when messing with the shoulders, but it wasn't strong enough to hold the weapons.

It is indeed. Here you have this beefy robot that towers over other figures...and he can't even hold his gun. *Sadface*

I’ve had this figure for over a year now but didn’t really enjoy it because the shoulder (forward & lateral) and hip (lateral) joints were just too weak that it couldn’t hold his weapons and do any dynamic poses.
Almost gave up on this figure and sell it for dirt cheap but changed my mind and performed surgery on him to add a layer of clear nail polish on the loose joints. I let it dry for a day and boy did it make a huge difference.

Received this figure today. Perhaps it's because I lowered my expectations, but boy oh boy: this figure looks fantastic!

It did arrive excl. batteries. Can anyone tell me which ones to get?

Shoulder joints are somewhat loose and so are the hip joints, so I may be trying the nail polish treatment.

Did you 'open' the joints or just applied some polish from the outer side?

I need to do a redux of all my old vids (cuz I had some junky lights!) and do a transform one on this guy. He's awesome. ;)
