I canceled my preorders for Breaker and Barbecue. The bike looks cool but honestly I'd only want it to try painting it.
Oh, for sure. That would absolutely be ideal. Either tweak the base pack to be pegged, or add the peg strip as an option. Unless and until that happens, I’m just looking for alternatives.
What an odd decision to change Cobra Officer's logo on the artwork to red. Everyone knows it's supposed to be silver; hell, even the toy has it right. Bad call. Grunt looks great; though the toy still looks like he's wearing lipstick.
Got him, just happy I was able to find him. 2 takeaways, it's nice to pay retail for these CI figures and also not get street dated.
Breaker is showing up at Targets in my area in decent quantities. Waiting til he shows up at either of the two closest Targets before I decide to pick him up and cancel my preorder.
I've got a Pulse PO on the Ram Cycle and BBQ so I ain't stressing it. If I find the Ram at retail I'll pick it up. But yeah just ugh. I wish it wasn't Breaker. What a horrifically awful figure. I want to add some pouches onto the fucker and repaint him in FDE or tan or whatever and make him some kind of generic operator.
In hand it’s easily the worst, most boring figure of the line. Helmet is cool but I’d have preferred a removable comm-piece instead of it a single piece. And although backpacks aren’t prevalent in the line Breaker needs one, especially considering the fact that he doesn’t come with any weapons ( the RAM Gatling gun doesn’t count as his weapon). mad far as the figure itself, the face is simply all wrong. Breaker should just have a slight beard, not a fully grown beard. This is simply the wrong characterization of the character, which seems to be a trend with the line when you take into account their interpretation of Bludd having a mechanical arm when the original figure was simply wearing armor.
Or ya know, this is a new line with updated designs that aren't intrinsically beholden to the ARAH designs. Classified is kind of like what Transformers was pre WFC. Why is it so wrong for Breaker to have a beard or for Major Bludd to have a mechanical arm? It's not like the line is actually trying to be 6" ARAH.
It’s hard to argue a set with a recreated RAM instead of an entirely new motorcycle isn’t trying to be a 6” RAH line. I’m all for updating the characters as long as the updates feel true to the characters. Wave 1 is a perfect example; I have no issues with the changes many people griped about. The two changes I mentioned don’t feel true to me; Bludd feels like ignorance of the designers who truly interpreted the original character to have a robotic arm, and Breaker feels like laziness — they recalled he had a beard and simply sculpted one to how they wanted it to look. Maybe it’s not a big deal to some or most people; hell, even Duke has been given brown hair on several figures, but if wave 1 Duke had brown hair a reasonable defense to the change wouldn’t be that the line isn’t a direct copy of RAH. Fans would question or criticize it and would likely be justified in doing so.
To your point about Major Bludd, isn't his Classified figure based on the Sideshow statue, which did represent him as having a robotic arm?
Popfindr says the Rams are available locally, but I haven't had time to hunt. Preorders finally popped up again, so I ordered one there. I'm not in any hurry. This is my most anticipated figure in the line so far. I'm a fan of "boring green army men." I'll take them over the mecha ninja designs any ol' day.
A Real American Hero (1983) Originally, Major Bludd was available as a mail-in order from Hasbro in early 1983.[19] He became available as part of the carded series later in the year. Appearance: black helmet, eyepatch, and mustache; brown shirt and pants with green pads and stripes on legs; black vest, boots, and bionic right arm; dog tags on chest Accessories: spiny, squarish black backpack (with sculpted rockets); black rocket pistol. I'm not trying to be a dick, but some interpretations, it wasn't just armor *edit this is from the same source Major Bludd's "robotic" arm is actually heavily armored, to protect him from the blast generated by his rocket-firing gun.
We know it’s not a bionic arm in RAH because every version after v1 has a regular arm. Either he had an arm implant or he simply took off the armor.
Yeah, I really liked wave 1 as well. I got the Duke, RB, and Scarlett redecos and they felt boring to me, so much so, that I haven't even opened them up yet. I do like Bludd though, probably my favorite figure of the line so far.
