Wreck Gar isn't a key character for me outside of maybe Marvel UK. I hate the G1 toy, although I was really pleased when I found one in super nice condition at my first Botcon. I had cases of the KFC MP (first run) and sold them as I didn't really care to have the character as an MP.

But this toy nails it: The quirkiness of the original design. The blockiness of the G1 toy, especially in alt mode. The chunky spikey animation model. IThe stupid face. The fact that the head can't become the motorcycle faring like the impossible G1 mass-shift design but it still somehow becomes part of the faring and dashboard. It's fantastic.

I love it, yet I was so ambivalent upon its reveal I didn't even bother to preorder. There's something to said for picking a toy up of a shelf in store in person and giving it a punt.

While we're talking about Junkions, these guys were originally intended to be Sons of Unicron, right? The colours, the spikes, the facial hair. I'm sure in an original draft they were intended to be servants living on the surface of Unicron doing his bidding and keeping things working.

that reminds me, the first time I saw Fort Max in person was in GOSH(Great Ormand Street Hospital) I was 13 years old and suffering from Kidney failure I had gone down to the Toy Room and there it was. I wanted it so bad and wanted to take it home with me.

 

I just had a look and a couple of stores are now showing 5 in stock, so probably more will over the weekend as they book their deliveries in.

Hmm there is something on ebay I want but cant buy it for another 10 days so now i have to leave it up to fate to see if its still available when i have the money. There are much cheaper KO versions around but I would rather an original if i can...but if i do get a KO I can afford Kingdom Galvatron or Wreckgar.

I win either way but I just hate having to wait 10 days not knowing what the result will be...aah first world problems eh?

Speaking of Scorponok, I received this an hour ago from Omegalock:




Got to get myself in the zone to remove the original leg parts and install this.

My initial glance and look over the printed parts, it is very good and the colour match is bang on.

I also got Wreck Gar Overall I like him a lot - he has some pretty minor quirks - like the spikes are in the way a bit, and his panniers knock on the wheel/s and he's a bit loose overall.
but once I floor polish him up and my Go Better kit & the axe extending exhaust & rifle arrives I think that should help make him even better.
I also think another Junkion redeco will raise his play value a great deal further too.
he's VERY easy to transform from Vehicle to robot but much fiddlier to get into bike mode.

Broadly speaking though "I'm happy"... so a bit like the Sharkticon Gnaw - has some oddities but they don't detract to much from the overall effect. If they take to long making a repaint/remould I may go the 3rd party part route to make another random Junkion out of another copy.

 

It’s Megatron Megabolt from RID2001. He fits quite well on a ER Scorponok but he fits perfectly on the original fort max mould
