Not to mention he only cost 80$ (~100$ for a battle damaged version)

It's really good. The tank mode I do agree is bad and could have been better. Mainly covering up the arms sticking out the back.

    I think that's fairly impossible.

I honestly think that’s too much of an engineering nightmare to get to work for a 3p to consider it.

Eh, I don't think anybody has been saying that outside of specific circumstances. We've had figures without backpack for a while now, so that's a different kind of impossible lol. To have the treads move and still transform the way that it does, especially with his feet/toes being treads, just doesn't seem likely without some sort of huge compromise.

I definitely didn’t. Pretty sure that’s just the chug and Takara MP collectors saying that. We’ve had backpackless robots for probably close to a decade now.

Not of the complexity of current MP, Peru Kill was the first backpackless and kibble-free movie transformer, I am quite sure we can make working treads for Tank Megatron.

I just don’t see it happening, especially with the CGI model cheating it like crazy.

I actually would prefer accurate bot and altmode over backpack-less figures or working gimicks that make a figure overly fragile.. if BA prime did not have the wide rear and the tank/guns sticking out so much I would have loved him and kept him.. but I am happy now with BC-01 optimus and BMB optimus.

and Tankatron is an amazing figure.. I am looking forward to Sentinel and Mackatron.

Working treads are super easy if you dont mind some partsforming though. All lego tanks i had (some bigger than megs) have them and even my kids toys have rubber treads that work.

Seems kinda contradictory there. Having a figure without a backpack is accurate to the movies ;) .

The treads on rotf megatron go through his legs in several places and at odd angles. That would be a mess to design and probably wouldn't even work properly. Way too much effort.

Daytrader IS a backpack basically :lol
