I was actually going to bring that up. I remember hearing some people complain about replacing voice actors with celebrity actors and how they have done it in Transformers movies, like Lorenzo’s alleged insistence on celebrities for Optimus Prime and Megatron, and now Gary Chalk getting the boot as well.

 

At least Ron Pearlman has done voice acting before. And I 100% think Ron Perlman will do a better job as Primal that Chris Pratt will do as Mario.

Also all I can think about is how Green Man is Luigi and how’s it was a missed opportunity to have Danny Devito as Mario.

 

I have a feeling that the design of Mirage will be inspired by his Alternators design, but with Porsche parts instead of Ford GT parts.

 

Yeah, it sucks that Chalk isn't voicing Primal in ROTB which also makes me worried on who else will voice the rest of the Transformers slated to appear as well. And not that I don't have anything against Ron Perlman 'cause he has done voice acting before but considering his deadpan delivery as Primal on that godawful Machinima series, I wouldn't be surprised if he was only reprising the role for the money and not putting in more effort into voicing the character. Though I could be wrong, I hope.

 

As long as he resembles mirage in robot mode or at the very least his head is G1 Mirage I’ll live with him being Jazz’s alt mode.

 

Thing is, that's just the normal thing that's done now. To the average viewer, it would be more unusual not to have Hollywood actors doing the voices, but voice actors from a decades-old cartoon series instead. I was a fan of G1 as a kid, though I only really ever got to see MTMTE (or, 'Arrival From Cybertron' as it was known here) and the movie, and I had no idea who Peter Cullen or Frank Welker were until the whole thing blew up with the 2007 movie. To me, most of the voices just sounded like the people who did the voices on other cartoons, nothing special, though Starscream and Soundwave were of course particularly distinctive.

It's just odd to me that there's an attitude that because someone happened to be the first person to voice a character decades ago, they somehow have an entitlement to voice every other iteration of that character.

 

To be fair though none of the voice direction/acting was any good really (minus Megatron and Grimlock maybe) I mean Mark Hamil somehow sounded boring. And I’m sure he’ll do a better job in this with a better voice director.

 

His head will definitely be G1, after all the other Autobots aside from Prime and Bee have G1-inspired heads

 

Well I assume that since Steven Caple Jr. is directing the movie he may also be in charge of the voice directing as well. So I'm really hoping that not only we have a good voice cast, but also a good voice direction that will allow the actors/actresses to give off strong performances for their characters.

 

Eh, I’d say Bumblebee is the only one with a head that doesn’t resemble his G1 counterpart. Thought I wounder how much they’ll modify his head from the BB movie

 

Based on what? We haven't even seen any robot designs from this film.

 

Based off the descriptions we got from the people invited to that one event.

 

I think it was only Arcee whose robot mode was seen. Mirage may well end up with a G1-ish head but I wouldn't jump to conclusions based on one piece of concept art or even the last-minute additions to the beginning of Bumblebee.

 

Based on the fact that we know all of them have G1 style heads thanks to the people who's seen the designs at the event.

 

Mirage's robot mode has not been shown yet, but the fact that both Arcee and Nightbird had clear links to their legacy designs does raise the possibility of Mirage having one too. Still unwise to consider it confirmed tho.

 

Personally, I'm curious if they go with his cartoon or comic design for the head. I'd like if he had his comicbook head. The mask gives off secret spy/thief vibes  

 

Given how basically anything that isn't obviously drenched in the bayverse aesthetic gets called "G1" a lot on this subforum, I'm not about to take the description of others as gospel when it comes to defining aesthetics on designs I can't judge for myself.
