I understand completely! I ended up getting the KO back when it came out only to watch the price plummet very shortly thereafter. Enjoy him anyway! I know I have!

 

Thanks, I will. I’m mainly annoyed that it was advertised as genuine. While I try to avoid knock-offs for ethical reasons, now I actually have it I’m happy to keep it. While I can only judge from pictures, I think it looks as good as the real thing.

The seller appears to not accept returns anyway, and I couldn’t be fussed with the hassle if they did allow it. I might message the seller to see if they will provide a partial refund, but I don’t hold much hope there. It’s just my word against their’s after all. Just wished I’d known before I’d given them a super positive review. Assuming they’re aware, of course. It’s quite possible they were the ones who were scammed.

Anyway, my fault. I should have investigated further before hand, or maybe tried to buy from an online Japanese shop.

But moaning aside (this is an appreciation thread) I’m happy enough with the figure itself.

 

Yeah, the lack of honesty about it is super scammy... Hopefully they'll refund some of it.

 

You might want to check out the KO review on YouTube by Bots and Bits (link). He goes into detail about the differences between the two. Going by your pic you also have the box and that's usually the easiest indicator.

If the auction is still visible, then you have something to show the seller.

But this is the bad thing about KO's: people can mistake them for the original. I personally think KO's are great for spare parts, kitbashing of alternate versions: different size or colours. But it should never happen that people get the KO by mistake.

Video watched- thanks again, and yep, multiple proof this is a KO. The most glaring:



Interesting thing that comes to light in the review: the original Takara isn’t better in every way. Mine doesn’t have the flaky paint on the cable/spring issues to near the same extent as the guy’s in the video.

Anyway, I took pictures and sent them with a link to the video to the seller and asked for a 50% refund, which I think is fair.

And while I was typing this he has replied… be back in a bit…

… okay he says he bought it second hand and due to the good quality, (and it is pretty good, to be fair) he thought it was genuine. He said he’d check out the video when he gets home from work. He was very apologetic, and I think he might actually be telling the truth.

Anyway. I’ll see what happens.

 

Yeah, the easiest way to tell if SW is a KO are the hands. Mushroom pegs? KO!

And she is clearly replacing the KO Upscaled T30 Arcee I had with my MPs!

Her backpack can be compressed more though. Those two hinges behind her neck can completely close, so that there is no opening underneath them anymore. Also make sure that the piece underneath her neck is tabbed in completely too, otherwise you won't get those hinges to close up.

 

It looked like it could go further, but I didn't want to force anything and risk breakage. I'm a wee bit more gunshy with MPs after Hound...

Update on my KO Shockwave, seller came through for me really quickly and sent a 50% refund. He even included the delivery charge in the percentage. He said I could return it for full refund if I like but I'm happy to keep it.

So while I never wanted a KO, I ended up with a pretty good deal. I have batteries on order.

Appreciate this isn't a KO thread (although I first commented not knowing my Shockwave was a KO), but it is an appreciation thread, and I appreciate that with all those rascals out there, there are people who will still do the right thing. (He was so apologetic, I think he was telling the truth when he said he had been unaware. He checked out that YouTube video, and couldn't deny the evidence. I think he was the one who was actually scammed.)

More thread related: I have also put an offer on a Masterpiece Ironhide. I did this on Mandarake, this time. It's a display piece in the shop ( so might not be available) but I think as a Japanese shop seller this will be genuine. They need to come back with the delivery charge, so hopefully it won't be too much.

First time using Mandarake. Had an odd moment filling in a form which didn't allow me to select country (I think it was for Japan based buyers) but then I found a link that allowed me to use my saved address information. I guess I'll get a message from them early next week.

Aside from a pre-ordered Nightbird, (and a GigaPower Superator, if you can count that as MP) I think this may be my last masterpiece for a good while. I never intended to get them all, just a nice representation of certain sculpts. And I fancied a proper non-partsforming van-bot. (I really do like my Earthrise Ironhide and Ratchet, and I made good use of the shield/roof with accessories, turning them into battle/medic stations, but they aren't it.)

Sounds more like a deficiencies post than an appreciation.  

 

I literally made MP 25+ for TT, どういたしまして, and unless we are not looking at the same custom then I see no lack or shortage nor failings or any form of shortcoming. Nevertheless our perceptions and opinions do not have to be and much too often are not the same.
