I think about 60% - 70% of what we've heard sounds good. G1-inspired Optimus, a heist film, focus on heart and character, Terminator 2 inspiration, delving into Optimus as a character, the director being a fan, good chemistry between the actors on set, Mirage filling the human companion role (I love Bee, but it's cool to see another character get the spotlight), a lot of stuff pulled from the lore (like Beast Wars, Nightbeat, and Scourge), etc.

I do think there are some things to be concerned about, like the amount of factions and characters, the iffy continuity, and the apparent combining of two scripts. But I don't really agree that most of what we've heard has been bad. I'm mostly concerned for the structure and pacing...I don't want it to feel like two separate movies or have all these ideas feel rushed. But if they can get all of that working (and deliver on their promises), I think this movie will be a blast.

You mean like how TLK was rushed, made from combining altogether different scripts, and had poor pacing? Yeah, part of me is concerned about it too. I'm cautiously optimistic but at the same time real worried about the final product. Hopefully it doesn't tank at the box office.

 

If the film turns out to be TLK 2.0 it deserves to tank at the box office. My concern is that the film will be terrible and like the past Bay films, the box office numbers will 'save' it from failing, therefore incentivizing them to make more shit instead of something better.

 

If it does. Like I said, I'm cautiously optimistic and hoping the filmmakers are putting as much care into this as possible compared to TLK.

 

If ROTB turns out to be good, I really hope it does well at the box office.

 

The Autobots in ROTB be like The Furious (if you get my reference)

 

So far even though there are more factions, the size of these factions seem relatively compact. This seems like a good thing.

 

It seems like the teams (minus the Decepticons) are gonna be groups of 4-5 maybe the Terrorcons will have a little more to appear more threatening and outnumber them so the Autobots can team up with the Maximals and Predacons.
Honestly, I feel like in terms of screen time it's gonna go something like this

1. Autobots
2. Terrorcons
3. Maximals (come in maybe toward the end of the second act beginning of the 3rd)
4. Predacons (I got a feeling their gonna show up a couple of minutes before the Terrorcons get to Peru so we can introduced to them before the final fight)
5. Decepticons (I got a feeling their gonna be a tease for the next movie - maybe post-credit scene)

 

I would agree with that. I just hope the Predacons are done justice. I feel like they could end up getting lost in the shuffle if not done right.

 

It wouldn't surprise me if the Terrorcons and maybe Predacons have a load of generics to fill out the numbers.

Yeah, I just wonder who's gonna be a Predacon with them saying their more reptillian which makes me thing the Predacons are going to have different characters apart of it & not any from the show minus maybe Dinobot and Terrorsaurs (since them and Megatron where the only reptiles in S1) and who knows if Megatrons gonna be their leader in the movie (If they don't want to confuse the 2 Megatrons in this universe up and they don't rename him).

 

I really want to see BW Megatron in ROTB. It would be a shame if we don't get to see him as the leader of the Predacons, they might rename him Galavar. I could see Razorclaw or Predaking taking his place though.

Not really sure who will make up their ranks - maybe some new characters or reimagined existing characters get put in there. I would love to see the original Beast Wars lineup, but like you said if they are going for a more reptilian approach that sort of rules out the insects, although I don't know if that necessarily means we won't get any other forms of Predacons, so it's still a possibility.

 

If predacons are alien robot animals instead of photo-realistic animals I could see the bug-guys appear anyway with some creative changes. Like give Waspinator some kind of freaky dragonical wasp alt mode akin to this and you pretty much have a bug predacon that still fits the reptilean visual language

 

As the Predacons are "reptilian in nature" we will most likely see BW Megatron, Dinobot, and Terrorsaur. BW Megatron will probably have the name "Gnashteeth" to avoid confusion as OG Megatron is not revealed yet. I do hope the Predacons are done right, however.

 

the predacons will show up for 15 seconds, we'll get some info on them being a rogue faction or something and the plot will move on. they're not gonna decide after 7 movies "we haven't done anything faithfully yet but let's randomly throw in dinobot and terrorsaur as fans expect them, and also a beast wars uprising reference."

I would rather have 3 good Predacon characters that all get a decent amount of screen time than a load of characters who just appear for the sake of it. Though it would still be cool to see Waspinator and others, I admit.

Also do you really think it would cause that much confusion having two characters called Megatron, especially if the Decepticon version isn't even in the movie? If the audience of the Beast Wars animated series can understand it, surely the general movie audience can too, if explained well of course.

 

Except the existing in-universe reason doesn't even apply.

 

If the Maximals and Predacons are time travellers they can use the name Megatron for the BW character, but it has to be explained well
