    Watch it here. Periscope link:

    Just announced via Facebook: Here

    upload_2021-9-22_9-4-41.png

It says there will be an update on the project, but I'm curious as to why a VA is involved. I'm putting this up as news and want to refrain from starting any kind of speculation. Maaaaybe there's some kind of dub in the works?

Unless this is to announce a new Victory dub, this is certainly surprising. Is this the final tier? Would be a pretty odd one.

I'm going to laugh if they got the voice of Vegeta to announce that Victory Saber's backer level is over 9000.

"Chris, what is the current Victory Saber backer count?"

(I'm honestly just expecting this. Like, they'll show off the stand and finished prototype on stream, maybe with an onscreen transformation...and then Sabat will make a 9000 joke about the current backer count.

Or possibly they've gotten enough confirmed 3P buys that it's reached the goal and they want to announce it live on stream.

I think a full dub of the JG1 content would be above and beyond anything on a random Wednesday. It would be a welcome surprise, but it feels weird to come now rather than during a more formal event.

Now that you've posted this, I can see Hasbro updating the numbers with outside orders like they did a couple of weeks back just to use this joke....:redface2:

It's less than 700 away from 9k though. My thought was maybe they've got enough to confirm it's success...so they want to announce it on stream and got Sabat to help. Because 11k is over 9000.

Honestly, I'm okay if that's all it is. Because hitting goal with just over two weeks to go with no obvious assist from TTMail would be quite the feat. And given Evan's work on the project I wouldn't blame him for wanting to celebrate this on stream.

So yeah, I admit I'm contributing to hype by thinking maybe there's a dub coming. But honestly let the design team take a Victory lap (pun intended) if it reached goal.

    I'm just expecting colored renders.
The final tier as a victory dub WOULD be weird but funny. Imagine being from somewhere that doesn't speak English and you get an English dub.

Someone got a pic of the Gravity Fall's kid holding a piece of paper saying this is worthless? That's what my mind thought of with the format above.

What if the final tier is lines recorded from the series and put in a micro chip into the figure but in English by the actor.

A bit like takara Fort max but with an English dubbing. Maybe Japanese dubbing for the Asian markets too.

Or a re-release of the entire japanese series on blu Ray to go with the figure and he signs it.

Having Chris Sabat there is a weird choice given his complete lack of involvement in the franchise.

That said, if this is to announce a dub of Victory (and hopefully a remaster at the same time) I would be 100% there for that.

Well. This made me jump a little.

Yeah, what reason would they need a VA for something like this? I mean, it might be for an "Over 9000" gag, but...

Mark my words, if they end up revealing a Transformers: Victory dub (unlikely), I might actually scream.

They wouldn't put electronics in the figure. They'd likely put them in the stand.

I think of any guess...this seems like the most reasonable in terms of being related to the actual product vs being tied to any sort of dub.

This could POTENTIALLY explain any delays on Takara's end. As if they'd be getting English dialog on a soundchip, Takara may be prepping to announce something similar for the JP audiences.

That actually makes a lot of sense. But wait, what could that entail? Like, Sabat voice-acting Star Saber and/or Victory Leo's lines from the anime? Him singing the Victory theme in English? Does he even sing?

It's all a big if but if you had an English voice actor you could record a few key lines from the show. I assume "Let's say go!" would be one, "Battle on!" another?

Wait, isn't the phrase "Battle on!" actually "Battle up!"?

Does Sabat's voice range even match with Star Saber's overall character or even Victory Leo's?

This is my hope. While I'd love a dub, I think an English dialogue soundchip in the flight stand is the way to go.

As for pitching to match the Japanese VA, I don't think that's ever really mattered. Maybe it matters more today but I can't help but think of The Slayers Xellos sub vs dub when talking about differences in voicing.

I wouldn’t call him the obvious choice but he’s got a decent vocal range and I’m sure he could do it. Victory Leo I think he’d probably be able to do a fitting voice for, but I’ve never really thought about what Star Saber would sound like in English.

Whenever I think of a potential English voice for Star Saber, I end up thinking about Johnny Yong Bosch for whatever silly reason.
