yah aint fair, but it is good to see the improvements made over it. My maketoys meteor will still sit in a special spot in my heart as i had totally loved it when it came out and had better proportions than the early screamer MP's.

That said, i have all the older MP screamers too, all on display. I think i've only cold storaged my alternators/binaltech, buncha beast wars, and some movie transformer figures. I got all my MP's 3rd parties wfc's and original g1's all laying about, almost to a point i can swim in it like scrooge mcduck.

if we go back and look at old interviews we will find that it was with the design of mp-10 that scale became important. it was decided that mp-10 would scale with the then very recent mp-09 rodimus prime that was already released/releasing soon when mp-10 was designed. mp-03 HAPPENED to be about the right size so when mp-11 was released they didn't bother resizing it and reused most of of the engineering and design from mp-03. it was also about the time mp-10 was released that people on the internet started trotting out the scale charts. Takara even trotted out there own scale chart (in color even and strongly hinted those characters they chose to show would release). in any case depending how you interpret the scale chart mp-03/11 and mp-52 are all the right scale. DS might not abide 100% by it but its a case of people looking at the scale chart and being like...."yeah thats not accurate to my impression based on the majority of the animation" and its not so far off from official scale either. that being said it seems DS is still between ironhide and soundwave in height to the top of the head so its still accurate enough for me. i prefer it actually.

it doesnt take that long once you get used to it. I tried to time myself but i get interruptions. sometimes i get hung up on spots. probably 10-15 minutes if things are perfect? my first transformation took like 2 hrs hahaha.

edit: ok took me 18 minutes. i think i can comfortably do it in 20 or 25. 15 is rushing it too much with the delicate pieces this thing has.

Nope. looks like just mistransformed. there's a panel under it that's part of its transformation.

Reminds me of MP Hotrod V2 in the knee area. A common 3p evolution issue.

After the updated knee bends on MP Megs, Op V2, Arcee, Hound, and now SScream V2, it's hard to go back to that.

I really want this company to make a new MP Hotrod. Wasn’t Takara supposed to make a 2.0?

Yeah it definitely stinks that his knees don't have big gaping holes in them.

As long as it doesn't look like Hotrod V2's knees, whatever. To each his own, though.

I do not agree with their choice to paint him.

We are just throwing points back and forth, nothing malicious. I am saying that HasTak didn’t really care from 1984-2010, so people can’t be wrong in their impressions of characters formed through various media in the course of those 26 years. And since they portrayed those characters in various sizes, in various incarnations “in canon”, you can’t tell those people that this established scale is the only correct one (I mean you can but it won’t hold as much weight).

Anyone is free to buy into the program if they so choose but they shouldn’t stand on some pedestal, telling others that their impressions are wrong since they can prove their perspective in officially authorized materials. And as long as people use the original G1 toys/cartoon/comics as official sources, scale debates are moot because it left so much open to individual interpretation. If Hasbro decides that all those original G1 sources are non-canonical and start over, à la Disney, then I’ll agree with you.

That is one of reasons I love having 3rd party, you have the options to personalize your collection to your own unique connection with those characters.

    For me….

I don’t care how long or difficult it is for me to transform a Bot. Just so long as I can get that look Im purchasing in both modes. If I wanted speedy transformation or fun transformations I would’ve stuck with G1 or Hasbro’s mass produced stuff.

This is Masterpiece! It’s in the name. It’s supposed to be hard but also well thought out. Intuitiveness is key at this level when designing a bot. Fun and speed aren’t expected at this level. That’s for the younger folks.

Remember you’re collecting something entirely different than a toy.

    This is Masterpiece!

it’s a bit brutal this way of life, yes. Certainly not for the impatient or faint of heart and wallet.

Dx9 and a unique toys made masterpieces fun to transform and play like toys. It’s more about 3p designers not having good insight into clearance, order of operations, not knowing when the figure has enough panels, and not doing multiple drafts. If looks is the only thing that matter and nothing else, statues and the RED line are for you.

Come on Octobotimus, you can’t tell someone that if they are searching for a good-looking figure, to get into the RED line. Those things are like the modern Gumby.

It’s sounds like you are trying to get them out of the hobby…unless that’s what you’re really saying.
