I don't think anyone's calling WFC or Prime Wars Trilogy "doing their own thing" compared to stuff like UT the Beast Shows or Animated.

 

Is that… Primal on the cover? The synopsis mentions Starscream, so what timeline does the Halloween special fit into?

Can someone confirm for me if this is Optimus Primal breaking out of his gorilla mode? Those organic hands also tell me that he is.

 

Reminds me of the current Immortal Hulk comic and some of the more disturbing transitions from Banner to Hulk.

 

That's my point. Siege has near zero originality. It's ultimately just a pile of references stitched together into a Frankenstein's Monster of overused callbacks. I mean, did we really need to see the AllSpark thrown through a Space Bridge, preventing Megatron from claiming it, yet again? I swear, if Ask Vector Prime was still around they'd joke about that, in so many realities, the AllSpark always, somehow, gets chucked off planet. I'd have had more respect for this show's writers if they told Hasbro to shove their story beat must haves pamphlets, opting instead to craft a completely original storyline. And before you say:"Wait, there were new things in the Netflix series. What about Megatron having been a disciple of Alpha Trion? Or the stuff with Sky Lynx?" Firstly, no. Him being a student to the old, wise bearded guy who used to run shop alongside Optimus back in the day isn't a new concept. That's a recycling of the Movieverse wherein, pre-war Megs, was a follower of Sentinel Prime, another old, wise bearded guy. Coincidence? That word is being escorted to the backyard to meet the guillotine as we speak. Secondly, yes. Sky Lynx's little character arc, him redeeming himself after banishment to the Dead Universe, was new, but, that doesn't make it a good idea. The very few, new things in this series are all crap. I mean, is THIS how you'd have preferred Sky Lynx depicted? I loved him in the 80s cartoon. A hammy, egocentric blowhard who could nonetheless get the job done. He was a fun character, easily one of S3's top highlights. And, I know, different continuity, different incarnation. But, when an earlier version of him is a more enjoyable presence, someone you look forward to seeing, versus this mopey, humbled, overly jabbering one, then, I have to ask, why change him? Sky Lynx, beyond the G1 cartoon, has barely appeared in TF media. A rare chance to hear:"Never fear downtrodden comrades, your glorious saviour Sky Lynx is here!" or something to that effect again thrown out the window, which is irksome. Plus, it annoys me this'll be a kid's introduction to him, when, there was a funner iteration they'll remain ignorant of, barring a parent or sibling telling them.

 

Season three is now on Youtube for kids to watch. If they care to.

 

Ahh, nice to hear. I know I've repeatedly condemned current TF fiction for kissing G1's ass too much, but, that doesn't mean I want it to be forget about either. I'd just like them to start lessening the callbacks. Getting obnoxious at this point. Think Animated did it best. They used Eater eggs, references in the background for older fans to spot, whilst focusing on telling their own story.

 

So I asked the cover artist herself (Nicole Goux), and she graciously responded! It’s actually Starscream. Guess he must mutate into a werewolf  

 

This happens to me for not waiting for a response from someone. 

On my page I put that it is Primal separating in gorilla mode from him.
