I got super lucky tonight and found 2 at Walmart tonight.

I love him soooooo so much. I just wish his legs could somehow slide forward a bit more in alt. Mode.

 

Yeah, having his legs slide forward a bit and his arms downward a bit would make him even more perfect. But as is he’s still pretty terrific looking. Certainly the best Sharkticon figure yet.

Sharkticon Gnaw!
First he requires some assembly outta the box.


Put it all together and you have Gnaw!
Really like how he looks. His lower body is quite limited, there's no waist and the hips have restricted sideward movement (no splits for you!) Still you can get him in a nice pose.
He comes with two wepons, his mace and a beefy looking blaster, which is my favorite of the two weapons. However the gun isn't blast effect compatible. Bit disappointing but not a major issue.


Sharkticon mode is great, I kind of wish the legs were placed a bit more forward though.

Despite my issues with the figure I still really like him a lot, he looks cool and G1 accurate.

I love the original toy so I was very excited about this one. He's definitely fun, lots of personality, good poseability in robot mode, nice accessories. I agree that the position of the alt mode hips is very strange and slightly off-putting. He does look great though and I appreciate both jaws being able to move up and down in alt-mode so he can chomp Autobots. I can confirm that the peg on the shark fin is long enough that it gets dislodged when transforming his back in robot mode. Definitely worth the purchase.

One thing I haven't been able to confirm is his compatibility with SS86 Kup. Anyone know whether he calms down for an Energon goodie?

 

I think the only thing I need to do with Gnaw is, to make up my mind on how many do I want to buy?

 

Btw, I've seen a lot of complaints about the robot head showing too much in alt-mode. I don't think everyone is picking up on the fact that his head is on a hinge and is meant to push down farther so it's not so obvious. The shape of his face actually fits neatly against the area underneath the lower jaw. Then his white head spikes look more like a tongue or whatever.

Great tip on the head, it does need to go further down as you said. It really does hide the head better.

Got this Sharkticon yesterday and he’s gorgeous. I’m impressed with the legs, for its tight design and buttery smooth transformation. One of the most elegant knee joints yet. Nice robot head sculpt too. That shark face has just the right amount of menace to it. All teeth and dead cold eyes. Another winner for SS86.

The backpack in robot mode likes to come untabbed very easily. Even when it does come untabbed, it's not a huge deal.

Does anyone else have this on their copy or is it just mine? Neat little figure either way!

 

I thought I would add a pic. Does anyone else have this issue going into robot mode where the dark piece won't stay tabbed in with light pice near the bottom of the back area?

I tried knocking the pin out and resetting it since it seemed to be related to the issue, but was unable to correct it

 

To anyone who owns or has owned a Unique Toys Sharkticon or an Igear Sharkticon, does this SS Gnaw make those completely obsolete? Or is it better in some ways but not in others?

 

At this point, everything makes the iGear TF005 Sharktiocns obsolete (though the alt mode rows of teeth are neat AF). UniqueToys Sharkies will depend of if you want stylized or accuracy (they are a tad too detailed but they've always had more of an Animated vibe to me). I've never owned either as they weren't what I was looking for. That having been said, I've always looked at the Sharkticons as the Quintesson equivalent of the Junkions so nothing is ever really out of place:

I have the MFT MF-26 3 pack.

My SS86 Gnaw preorder is on backorder.


For me:

MF-26 has the better alt mode (FML I am always terrified I'm going to snap off the antenna and they were absolutely hell to tab in) out of anything currently/previously available.

The TR redeco in the PoJ set is the battle worn leader of the MF-26 3 pack.

SS86 Gnaw has the better alt mode face and the better robot mode out of anything currently/previously available. You can alter the transformation so that it looks similar to a Acklay from Star Wars (without the elongated neck and elongated crab legs and with only 4 legs that touch the ground due to the tiny front arms). This will be King Gnaw-naue (c wut I did thar?) once I finally get one and, it will rule all the Sharkticons.

 

I have Igear and Unique Toys sharkticons standing in my MP display. The Igear, like you observed, looks great in shark mode primarily because of the doubled rowed teeth, and it also pulls off the bug-eyed look pretty well. The face reminds me of the scene from the movie where the one sharkticon gets punched in the face and loses all his teeth. The Unique Toys shark mode is decent, but doesn't do any one thing particularly well. Where the UT excels is in bot mode which best approximates the G1 toon bot; the Igear bot mode is a bit of a mess in comparison. So I have a UT in bot mode and an Igear in shark mode.

It's looking like I might be able to replace both of them with SS-Gnaws.

 

Found a Gnaw over the weekend, and I'm fully impressed! Very fun in both modes! Only nitpick I have is that I wish the Bot mode eyes were a bit brighter, but I guess thats an easy fix!

I definitely want to get 1 or 2 more!
