Wow! I hope that this was a while back because there has been so much progress in the mental health field when it comes to this topic. Glad you gave that therapist the boot! And unfortunately I'll be limited to being in Texas because of how the license works.

I have actually looked into why people collect and why some don't and there is something definitely tied to comfort, familiarity, refusing to move forward, and other things. It depends on the person and their circumstances for sure though. I know that at the height of my collecting it was due to depression, wanting to feel safe because it reminded me of simpler times, and escaping reality.

 

Oh yeah, totally. My teenage years were really awful and traumatic and TFs remind me of being a kid before everything went to shit.

 

Things like this (transformers) will always bring me peace, even if I no longer buy in mass or buy at all.

I'll always be thankful that the world, although cruel at times, has many beautiful aspects and wonderful people who contribute to the growth of us all.

OMG like soooo happy for this! Just finished reading my older brother's More than meets the eye and Lost light comics, and I loved them. I use to always play with my brother figures, which he hated hehe. But yeah Rung going be my first transformer - 3p figure - Mastermind creation figure. I also order a few other to start my very own collect. They were Nickel, Acree, the Pet and my brother sending me Eris. Their names are changed for copyright stuff I'm assuming, right? 

 

Yeah, these aren't licensed by Hasbro. Technically "third-party" is supposed to mean a licensed product like the Furai model kits, but around here we tend to use it to refer to unofficial stuff like MMC--characters given carefully deflective names sold only to collectors.

Also, my daughter loves to steal my Nickel & the Pet toys and play with them. Though she insists Nickel's name is "Roller Girl."

Byrin with test shots is usually a good sign a product is about to ship since he collects our non-final versions all the time and almost always photographs them just before release lol.

 

Sigh... this might draw me back to IDW transformers.. must.. resist..

 

Next month I’m going back the office after being away for 18 months. I’m thinking whole new wardrobe - all pocket shirts with pocket protectors that I can slip Rung into and wear him around the office. Odd days he’s in bot mode, even days its ornament mode. If anyone asks about him I’ll simply remind them that I’m not wearing pants.

 

I got mine pre-ordered yesterday. I am really looking forward to getting him.
