The jrcdesignstore.com kit doesn't use any 5mm ports on Mirage but it does add one on each shoulder

 

That’s good! I like to use the 5mm ports for the weaponizers/fossilizers. So the kit sounds good to me then.

 

Yea, it uses the pressure vent (the rectangular opening on the shoulders) from the mushroom pegs on the shoulders to plug into

Looks like my mirage has no autobot symbol alignment issue.

 

I can confirm that I have the same issue as well. His back 5mm port is slightly big to fit any 5mm peg

Rats, my copy is still listed as "preparing for shipment," even though I ordered Mirage/Grimlock on May 11th when it first became available for pre-order on Amazon. I am starting to think it is location in the U.S. that is the reason why Mirage/Grimlock and the Sideswipe/Skywarp sets are being shipped out from random pre-order dates. I live in California and a friend of mine in Virginia got his Battle Across Time 2-packs before me.

I do hope I am incorrect and that the reality is that Amazon really is randomly selecting customers when deciding to ship out these Transformers exclusives.

 

I have no clue what their system is. It definitely ain't by date, since I only ordered Sideswipe/Skywarp last week, after Amazon.ca went screwy with my Grimlock/Mirage order and I got paranoid (especially after how Amazon.ca screwed everybody out of their Coneheads). I received the set yesterday morning.

My Mirage/Grimlock set is also supposedly preparing for shipment, which I ordered at the same time.

 

Thanks for this, was a major and only disappointment with Mirage just picked up on of these kits!

 

Got mine in the mail today. I really like this Dinobot mold. It feels light in-hand, but not hollow or cheap. I've got him posed with T-Wrecks. Hoping for some more toy-only character repaints and really hoping for some 3rd party Mutant heads.

 

I'm grouping Grimlock with T-Wrecks, Transmutate, Wingfinger, Dracodon, and Skywarp as a special team of Maximals called, "Dino-Max!" Cheesy I know, but it helps increase the Maximals ranks.

 

My set is waiting for me at home as soon as I get off work. Excited for both of these figures

 

I didn't check for the main back port until last night but I've been experiencing these issues with my Mirage as well. Is it from a certain batch where all the tolerances were out of whack?

Got big sets today. I haven't transformed Mirage yet, I really don't care that much, so I don't know yet if he has the misaligned autobot badge, but he does have the way too god damn loose back port. So I guess now I have to but that upgrade kit to actually put the shoulder cannon on.

I honestly really don't get why they changed the way the arms shift forward from the siege version. It worked just fine and they easily could have retooled the figure around still having the shoulder port.

Grimlock's better in person though. Still really wish he had a more correct deco though. Overall, I technically got this for free so I really can't complain that much.

 

Have to admit to being astonished that Mirage didn't have the same shoulder port his Siege counterpart did. Just ordered a JRC kit off ebay. Thanks for the links here to that. He's decent. In some ways the Siege feels better just because my copy pegs together in alt mode more satisfyingly than the kingdom one does.

Grimlock is a decent recolor of Dinobot. I'll end up selling him off because I just want the core Beast Wars crew, but I get what they were doing here and it works. Having Grimlock in hand I do wish Dinobot's hip universal joints were colored brown like the rest of the figure, like how Grimlock does it. On Grimlock having those hip joints be white helps the front of the raptor mode's colors blend far better and then the alternate leg coloring translates better to a belly color for the raptor. That's really Dinobot's biggest eyesore in raptor mode, those visible orange balls in the front of his chest. Grimlock doesn't have that problem.

 

Ordered the upgrade kit direct from JRC Design. Very nice. A near perfect white match, off a little because the white on Mirage is painted. Not as bulky as I thought it might be & they don’t have to be removed for transformation.

 

Ok what the heck, Amazon says I'm getting it tomorrow but it hasn't even shipped yet. I know I'm fairly close to a distribution center but even then this feels a little close to the wire.
