Found a Sweep in a Walmart Florida last night. I wasn't planning on getting him at all, but that new blue suckered me in.

So, here's something. I decided to try and transform Gnaw without using his torso swivel, and it more or less fixes my issue with the leg placement. The sit a lot closer to where I feel they should be, while also fixing the issue he has balancing in shark mode. It's really weird, then, that if they had gone with the simpler transformation, they could have ended up with a better and more accurate final product

The more SS 86 figures I get, the weirder I find this line (outside of the dinobots). It's kinda like MP, where they're so focused on accuracy in both modes, that they loose sight on the more important part of a Transformer: the transformations. A lot of them feel unsatisfying, and lack that tactile joy of WFC figures. Take Hot Rod for example. I love this figure, but the longer I've owned him, the more I've realized how un-fun his transformation is. Like, it's super clever and amazing in concept, but the end result just feels wrong, with parts clashing and other parts kinda squishing into place with not satisfying click

That's why Gnaw has been so weird for me. He's not overly accurate in either mode, with his wings missing in robot mode, and the leg placement and the patchy, multicoloured sides in shark mode. Yet, his transformation is one of the most fun in the whole line. I don't take issue with any of the inaccuracies, only really the leg placement in shark mode because it looks a little weird, and that's because he's fun! Idk where I'm trying to go with this, or what point I'm trying to make. I'm just rambling about something I realized

How does the Sweep redeco match with the Takara Legends Scourge? Is it the same blue?

 

I think the mushroom peg is in the forearm and I'd have to pop it open to swap. I don't really want to damage the figure trying to swap the hands.

As you can see, it's far from perfect, since it wasn't designed for it, but it to me it fixes the shark mode leg placement
