Im in the 'wants a new combiner' camp. Computron would be nuts with the IF style.

 

I want lots of stuff, but realistically speaking IF has become a bit of an IDW thing, which is cool, so I expect them to do something from MTMTE. As much as I really want the Wreckers, I feel some more obscure characters like Pyro and Ironfist won't be considered at all. Also, after the Samurai release I fear they'll ditch their IDW approach.

I think we can reasonably expect a Hot Rod and a Springer, both are important characters in both G1 and IDW. And a Prime 2.0. The rest I don't feel comfortable enough to reasonably speculate about.

Oh, I really want this.

I forgot I had Darkness Cygnus preordered.

 

Just had a thought: Dai Atlas needs his buddies so we can have an IF styled Big Powered.

 

This is what I was hoping for, when he was released... How many years ago, now?... But nothing since.
He will stay alone  

 

Looks great. I like that he has the same type of hands as their Cliffjumper. Hopefully he comes with some accessories.

Got some fine, old purple boys in today. They're both really nice I gotta say. Glad I changed my mind and grabbed a Galvatron when I decided to get the Cyclonus.

 

How is he??

 

I love Tarn. I do kind of wish they hadnt gone the combiner route and focused more on the alt modes, but the team has good presence.

 

I got IF Galvatron a week or two ago. Wanted to share some thoughts.

Disclaimer; I'm biased. The 86 movie was my favorite TF media during my childhood, and I never had a Galvatron, so being an IF fan it was a no-brainer. Robot mode is beautiful. If you look at pics and already like the design, then you'll also like it in-hand. Detailing is nice, those red-gem abs, cannon on the forearm. Head and face sculpt look good, though I wouldn't have minded another head with a smirking or grinning face (the other head that came got one of the prongs dented after one day. kids.) Poseability could've been better as the ankle articulation is limited by the leg itself, but I can deal with that. Hand axe, normal and elongated are both really cool.

Now to be a downer; alt-mode. Cybertronian alt modes were always "eh", and we know that. But Galvatron takes the cake for me (I don't have drift, who they say is pretty bad too). While some are just unconvincing, this one is just lazy; you can clearly see the hands and feet! I deliberately position it in an angle to look more convincing. I think it's kind of a bummer because while I don't work with manufacturers it seems like these issues are possible to fix. The hands could've folded into the forearms, which would've been a big step. Lots of figures do these and even some IF figures such as the racing bros and their molds. The feet could've molded into something that meshes together instead of jutting out, which is a shame since the leg guard sliding is a cool move and the legs tab into each other nicely. Alt-mode is practically non-existent to me. While not a big complaint, I would've preferred more accessories than just the axe and the head, especially considering how big of a character Galvatron is.

I would still recommend him, though, because the robot is that good and the figure has good shelf presence. I might be imagining it, but the plastic quality also feels much better than IF's previous stuff. Great figure, but I hope IF picks up the slack on their alt modes because if they don't the future might be more interesting with NA and MS.

 

To be fair, NA's attempt at Galvatron, despite the much more complicated transformation, still has his hands and feet visible. Be careful what you wish for =]

I dont own the IF Galvatron, but I have wondered why IF took the overly simplistic route with the engineering, especially when you look at IF lineup he was introduced with.

 

ha...it has been along time since that kind of stuff has been brought up. i'm too lazy to dig out my figs to do the swaps.

Bringing that up made me realize that Dark Cygnus' add ons would look great with Megatron. Ugh. Opportunity missed for me.
