How quickly this thing is getting backers probably matters more to Hasbro than people complaining about something they aren't gonna purchase.

Lol. No. They can modify the bottom to fit a AAA battery pack just fine.

Not sure anyone is influencing anyone. It's just people giving their opinion. If you want to back it back it. If you don't then don't. It's down to individual choice about whether you want to support it.

I wanted to but I suppose the choice of character isn't that appealing to me. I still may decide to but I'm hoping to back the star wars haslab project and I'm not sure I can afford to do both.

I was referring to the Facebook posters. I’m personally on board for two for this! I’ve got the MP and simba and can’t wait for a version to fiddle with more!

Personally I think there is a large difference in people who don't want to back it and people who are saying it won't get backed. There definitely is a group of people who just want to naysay and rain on the parade. We've seen it in this thread plenty. Hell, that's like a third of TFW.

You don't need to explain yourself though. If it's not for you that's totally fine. I think most of us also understand budget restrictions. It's a great time to be into nerdy things cause we have so much available but that also means we gotta miss out on things sometimes.

Huh, the first thing he's said in a long time that I actually agree with. I'd say anyone making baseless claims about the "interest free loans", other financial nonsense, how it could be done at retail, etc. should really watch this video.

    ???

That's not "corporate" speak. That's just basic finances.

If someone paid you a million dollars, for something that cost you $999,999 to produce, did you make $1M?

If you don't know the difference between gross and net, hoo boy, no wonder your understanding of money just plain sucks.

The best part is this was ad libbed. Ben Stiller admitted in and interview that he forgot the original line after DD’s explanation so he just repeated his previous line. They decided to actually keep it in the movie to hilarious results.

They don't cost $50 to buy just the sound chip directly but Hasbro wouldn't be charging us just the chip itself. There is the cost of re-designing the base to accommodate the sound chip, battery case, and the button to activate it, and that means more parts to make which means it costs more to make the stand. Do they make the sound chips in house if even possible or buy them from another vendor? That increases the cost significantly due to shipping bulk orders. Then there is the cost of programming the chip since it just doesn't magically program itself. Also do they just try to clean up existing sound clips from the old show or record all new sound effects and voice clips. Either one of those costs money. Then the most important factor you forget is that Hasbro is a for-profit company. Every stretch tier is after a few thousand backers because the profit margins become large enough to include additional accessories. When manufacturing any product, the more of it you produce at one time the less it costs to make on the company's end. Just because you look up the cost of an LED strip doesn't mean you know how much it costs to manufacture a TV at a large scale.

You're arguing with people who were probably among those who tried to claim that they would have gotten Unicron for free under a communist society. You're wasting your time.

    Sound chips themselves don't, no.

Paying an actor to record lines, however, does. Also, as soon as it's got electronics in it, that's going to require it to get other regulatory approvals, which adds further overhead costwise as that costs money.

You should always focus on what you can afford. Wanting to back something and not being able to doesn't make you less of a fan or a collector. That said, you should make the choice based on what you want to do. Facebook and Twitter is a cesspool of misinformation, hate and self-loathing. Don't let it influence you or feel bad for wanting to like what you want to like..If you can't afford it that's cool, stick around and speculate what tier 3 might be with us. You're still welcome here!

Educating the ignorant is never a waste of time. Even if they don't want it, you can still say you tried. :D

A more accurate statement I think would be:

it could be done at retail, but not in a way that would make management, shareholders, etc happy

Why wouldn't they just use old lines from the media?
