So, I had some spare cash, and finally found my favorite incarnation of Megatron... and something close enough for Thundercracker. The kits aren’t bad, just like slightly more detailed Gunpla with different feeling plastic and a little pricier. I also picked up a can of Mr Super Clear (Matte) to try out, as well as a chrome pen, and I am in love with the results.

First, Thundercracker:

He’s somewhat loosey goosey in the torso, coming from being made out of about 5 pieces, but he’s otherwise sweet. I am also amused that the Null Rays can also be handheld guns.


And then, Megatron:

Overall, Megs is a better model, with a more solid torso. He also looks almost perfect to his IDW 1.0 incarnation, and I love it.

Thanks! At this rate, I’m going to have to pick up three Starscreams. One for Screamer, one for Skywarp, and one for a G2 Cracker.

And a Bee to make a Cliffjumper out of.

 

But a model kit for the two already exists…

That is an excellent point. I will likely still do the G2 ‘Cracker from the Starscream kit, as that is far easier to paint. If I do it, anyhow.

 

Fantastic work! The matte finish you added looks really sharp. Makes me wish I could go back and do this to my Megatron before I built him.

 

The awesome thing about matte sprays is that you can just coat anything, no matter how long ago it was!

I literally just sprayed him down, and it looked amazing.
