Or maybe they could just change the movie title? I for one still think 'Rise of the Beasts' is a cliche and uninspired subtitle for a number of reasons and somebody easily could come up with something cooler and trademarkable. Development wise they could still use the name internally but for the product lines maybe even not use the title at all. IIRC isn't Studio Series supposed to be the movie focused line anyway and the ROTB figures wouldn't be coming out for a full year after the film's release anyway?

I can make educated guesses based on Paramount's relative recent history and what we've seen (or rather, haven't seen) so far. Subject to change of course but right now there's nothing in the way of actually developing the Autobot/Decepticon conflict that always has to be central to this franchise. Instead, it seems the focus is going to be on alien crap already on Earth and some pre-history nonsense to justify the existence of Maximals and Predacons (in some weird fusion of the BW and G1 'crashed on Earth' origin points), tied to ancient human civilization, just like the bayverse, instead of just focusing on the actual war in the present.

You are correct in that it's not impossible, but it requires both good writing and the various factions involved to be different enough that the audience can actually understand why there are different factions.

Right now, the only functional difference that can be said about Predacons and Terrorcons is that the former are full animals while the latter are simply animalistic like robots that turn into vehicles...and maybe also animals since I'm pretty sure somebody tied to the production teased that Scourge has a third dragon mode.

I mean, I'll admit there is room for adjustment here - if the Terrorcons get revealed to be just a Decepticon subgroup which would make far more sense then that would be enough to largely satisfy me (but I still want a proper Megatron that isn't related to the bayverse to be fully satisfied, he's literally the franchise's main villain and they still haven't gotten him right!). At this time, though, it seems like Paramount ultimately is trying to force a Beast Wars film and the Autobots are ham-handedly being shoved into it and the Terrorcons are an attempt to blend the aesthetic because all the Decepticons around Earth (which amounts to 3) all exploded. And I'm not confident it's going to work for the reasons I already posted earlier regarding how Paramount is repeating the same mistakes and not shoring up a firm foundation before trying to expand upon the concept.

At least they didn't follow through on 'Beast Alliance'.

So we're getting this shit again?

The site itself is pretty clearly for some sort of toyline, and I remember seeing it around long before ROTB was announced when looking if any toylines similar to battle beasts existed.

But what does it turn into? What actually identifies it as a Transformer and not just some generic monster? I mean, it looks less like something you could actually say transforms and more like a knockoff 'Pinky' from the DOOM franchise.

If there's a silver lining, I think somebody said the designs are supposed to look reminiscent of the RID15 bots (though with a more 'reptilian' theme) so really more like this but with more normal faces...I hope.

Actually I thought Beast Alliance was a better title than ROTB. Because at least with a title like Beast Alliance, you get the sense that the Autobots are gonna team up with the Maximals and fight the Predacons who have allied themselves with the Decepticons or Terrorcons or whatever. Rise of the Beasts, however, does sound more like a fanfic title even though it could possibly allude to a scene where the Maximals and Predacons are reactivating from stasis. Possibly. But other than that, I still think ROTB is a worse title than BA.

I don't know where it has been said that "terrorcons are animalistic". The only two terrorcons we know of are Scourge and Nightbird and both of them were described as spiky and rugged but ultimately humanoid, with Nightbird having a ninja theme and Scourge having a clawed electrical hand.

Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts will feature Beast Transformers and Terrorcons

    Also...

I swear to god this man's mission seems to be utterly fucking destroying everything while also simultaneously trying to keep bayverse alive well after life support failed.

That's not actually true. Yahoo screwed up that article. It's the Predacons that were described as being reptilian as mentioned by multiple news articles like this one.

    I see:

    66512A67-C9FB-482E-B76A-DB12F41EACA8.jpeg

The thing is, Karris didn’t come out of nowhere. The Rise of the Beasts toy line has always been his, and he’s been working on it since 2011. His name was attached to the original Kickstarter in 2012: Rise of the Beasts - Series 1 (Canceled)

And if you check this news section, he’s been still working on it as late as 2020 (after going on hiatus in 2016): http://www.littlerubberguys.com/forums/index.php?showforum=121

He’s even selling some Rise of the Beasts figures right now: McCTXToys

I can’t really blame him for seeing the news and wanting to register a trademark for the name. While the toy line doesn’t seem to have been the most successful, he’s been working on something that’s been called Rise of the Beasts for a decade now, so to have this movie suddenly show up and potentially threaten that would be very annoying. Also, I couldn’t find any of the other trademarks you said he filled, at least not under the name “Jonathon Karis”.

Just noticed, Dominque's character is sitting/talking to a character in a full blue mo-cap suite. Whoever that character is, it's human-sized. Airazor?

So, let me get this straight.

Hasbro, after numerous fuck ups from Paramount, allows for them to make this sequel to Bumblebee, using a god awful title that sounds repetitive and uninspired within the context of Transformers (how many times has 'Rise' been used in conjunction with Predacons? Three at this point after Animated and Prime?), and yet Hasbro being a toy focused enterprise...NOBODY CHECKED TO SEE IF SOMEBODY WASN'T ALREADY USING THIS FOR THEIR OWN UNRELATED PROPERTY.

This is a magnitude worse than the infamous situation where Hasbro only got the right back to use the Bumblebee name on their products thanks to the 2007 film after losing it to some child swing. This guy in California may simply refuse to sell if this is a passion project he's dead set on making work, no matter how much money is thrown at him.

It legitimately would be easier just to change the title at this point.

That’s not for playing a small character from what I heard. It looks like they have one of the long sticks for robot height reference with them lying in the grass, so they probably just hold that up.

It could be one of the minicons. They’ve always been about the same size as humans.
