IDK how you would with just a neck piece change to black especially since the neckpiece is red in MTMTE sam as it was in MD

 

That's my problem with it too. Makes the Dino mode look dull. Heck GeeWun Grimlock looks better.

What's really going to be annoying is I am sure they have a G1 remould planned, so basically they took out that red neck piece for what exactly ....

Planet X don’t make G1 figures, so nope. They most definitely do not have a G1 remold planned. At most a repaint. Tbh seems like kinda an overreaction to 1 piece getting it’s color changed. For all we know it can also be swapped like the hands.

 

That's what I'm hoping/thinking as well. I doubt it would cost more to mold another piece that you've already made into 2 different colors as a option.

That seems like an over reaction for 1 piece changing plastic colour, a piece we don't know for sure can also be swapped out or not.

 

If they’re doing two versions anyway, why change it to something that isn’t accurate to either version?

 

I wonder if it's a sprue organization thing. You can't do hands without the neck pieces so they added them on?

I'd like pics of how the seam would pan out with black, but I don't think it'll break anything. In robot mode, I felt the large block of vibrant red popped too hard. I would have liked to see what it'd do if some of the interior was just painted gold, but adding a color application is a whole other thing.

 

That actually might be the case. I messaged them to ask why they changed it we’ll see when or if they’ll get back to me still hoping it somehow comes with a red colored version like the hands (though IDK why you would install it without taking pins out/etc.).

 

common G1 colors repaint (with nice chrome or sparkly painted gold) after original release...

I chose Superator myself... I needed that Chrome and bling paint, but...

Maybe they will do a repaint of Cacus with a premium all painted (vs bare-plastic) one day, at a more expensive price. Cacus has much more articulation and engineering into it. Want it too one day, plus, that Dino mode alone is just too tempting.

 

The red hands are still included. What's not known is if the small neck piece also has changeable options.

Man this could be repainted as a trans metal megatron. Heck with a slight retooling of the Dino feet and hands, this could be made into a trans metal dinobot

 

I’ve already accepted that this edition would stay in Dino mode and that I’d get the MTMTE edition for Robot mode.

I don't understand why so many people are crying (complaining, being negative) over this...What gets me is that the neck piece, itself is actually red on the outside in Dino mode and gold on the inside in robot mode. Sooooo just get red and gold model paint and fix it yourself to be the way you want it to be. It's so Simple and such an easy fix, and if you never painted before watch videos online. I personally would airbrush it. Every personal problem has a solution, even if you don't like the fact that you can't be lazy and have to do something to fix it. Who know maybe that tf sticker company will make a red sticker for it. Or planet x give you a red, black, and gold option for that piece. We don't know yet... they said more to come in a few weeks, meaning tfcon in October. Write them and ask them, I do and they do respond back. Just trying to give examples to be helpful and not cynical, please don't mistake my message the wrong way.

 

I'm happy they gave us the black hands option. That red looks hideous and I dont care if its from mtmte or maximum dinobots. Grimlock looks like a clown with red hands. I just wish they kept the red collar on dino mode and gave grimlock a yellow torso though. But all in all this might be my figure of the year.

 

Yeah, I don't understand it either really (wish it was red and hoping it comes with a red piece but still gonna get Cacus regardless) I messaged then yesterday about why they changed it so hopefully they respond at some point or at all but regardless we could find out when they show off that added "gadget" or when Ben's Collectibles gets his copy.

 

It's like going to the grocery store, seeing a chocolate cake and on the box it shows its covered in rainbow sprinkles. But when you look at it, no rainbow sprinkles. Instead of "crying, complaining, being negative" about it:
A. Don't buy the cake.
B. Be happy with the cake without the sprinkles go home and eat it.
C. Go get your own rainbow sprinkles and decorate that chocolate cake to perfection.

Unless they never really wanted the chocolate cake in the first place and only wanted to buy it, bring it home, keep it in the box on the shelf, let it get stale, and wait until chocolate cake goes out of stock so they can resale it at a marked up price.

I know people will be like "well cake isn't the same as a toy." But whatever you understand what I mean. I just giving examples to be helpful, there's always something more we can do to fix any issues.

 

This is ridiculous. This isn't a 200 dollar cake and this part isn't an extra we can add.

I also don't paint 200 dollar toys, because I can't match the finish. I'm getting this anyway, but it doesn't mean I can't state my preferences. PX made a change. Fine. I'll live. But it does look worse in my eyes with the change.

 

That's an awful comparison; consumable food items and collectables are very different.
