I thought I imagined Megatron's grip around Starscream's throat in that panel, but I was mistaken.

I have no qualms in praising comics when they have genuinely earned praise and this is looking to be the best IDW Transformers comic of 2021. But we will see what the Wreckers brings us.

 

Honestly, I'm shocked by how competent Shards has been so far. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I'm surprised to say I'm looking forward to more IDW stuff

Yes, I'm grateful G1 happened, kick-started the franchise.
And, no, I don't hate the 80s toon. I grew up watching it on VHS. City Of Steel was my very first episode. If I loathed it would I have bought the entire series on DVD? Nope. That said, I'd prefer each version of TF going forward to dial it back on the references, concentrating more on being their own thing, having their own identity. Animated & MTMTE are great because the creators were allowed to try new things, be different. If all Transformers media laying ahead is more recycled nostalgia, then, I'ma bitch. Can't be helped.

 

Honestly. I'm fine with new shows being their own thing. Especially these days. I don't really think there needs to be anything new to be added to the original show. Like Kevin Smith's crap he-man show. I don't care about that he-man reboot but I'll be damned if Smith's revelation fan fiction has anything to do with the original show.

 

I'd give anything to relive how I felt when Animated premiered. It was this bold, fresh spin I adored. Still do. More of that, please.

 

So is that the next miniseries?

 

I mean that was more or less the second half of MTMTE/Lost Light, wasn’t it?

 

All too often in the modern era, shows being their own thing are of poor quality. I’d rather watch a show that is competently produced but does not break new ground, than a show that attempts to do something new but is of really poor quality.

 

I want a high quality show which tries new things.
I want another Animated.

 

Nah. Old Man Megatron's saga is over. Let him rest.
